Editors’ Notes

Walmart’s app lets you browse thousands of products, search for items that have recently gone on sale, and even refill your prescriptions. But the savings catcher is pure genius: scan a receipt for any purchase made in the last seven days, and if a competitor in your area is advertising a lower price, Walmart automatically gives you the difference. It’s a fantastic, hassle-free way to save money without the need to shop around.

A few in store tweaks needed

I like using this app inside and outside of a WM store. I didn’t give 5-stars for two reasons, one of which WM stores themselves must correct. The other is on corporates shoulders.
WM stores themselves *must* have better inventory counts as they do not match what is out on the app. Sometimes prices are WAY off ($5 ++) but mainly when I go to a store, cannot find a price and scan through my app. The app will show the store has zero of this item in inventory. However I’m standing in front of a couple of stacks of these items.
The corporate reason is... let’s Clearance some of this (seasonal) stuff out. However instead of taking a dime to a dollar or two off of an item about giving deep, very deep discounts. Luckily split... you will clear out what is needed and have a lot more room for your newer or best seller items.
I’m in a roll... corporate WM, let’s talk about plants. I am appalled that after plants are in a clearance that the workers must come by and DUMP these viable plants in the TRASH. For Pete’s sake... how about putting out a blast to local charities? Or assigning an interested customer to give to charities (many shelters can grow food for themselves and other hungry Americans), or trim back to bring to local nursing homes. There is a host of ways to use these and you still get your (charitable) tax write off.

Pure Genius???

Update: My last review was given July 19th. Today is December 20th. Customer Service said they were fixing the Saving Catcher issue that caused submitted receipts not to appear. The problem STILL persist. Frustrating.

The Editor's Note calls the Savings Catcher "pure genius" . . . That's a load of BS. First, the Savings Catcher takes longer than 48 hours to process most times. If the comparable sale is short lived, the SC will probably not "catch" it, and you'll get no savings. Second, if and when the SC catches a savings, it catches the least amount: if there are two other stores running comparable sales, one 30¢ less than Walmart and the other 50¢ less, the SC will use the 30¢. Third, submitted receipts don't always show up through the app, even after you get back savings. For those of us who need the receipts, especially since Grocery Pickup doesn't give physical or ereceipts, for taxes, this is a huge problem. I've contacted customer service, who said the issue would be forwarded to Corporate, but after at least 3 released app updates, nothing has changed. I've resorted to shopping at Target for much of my groceries. Instacart is nice, too, for times when I don't have time to in-store shop. The next step is to go to social media to complain. Walmart should not market ANYTHING it does not take seriously or operate as claimed-- it could lead to a class action lawsuit.
