Two stars for effort, but...
Even on the large iPad 2 screen, it's just too difficult to see. Fun for about five minutes - then the novelty wore off and I wished I was playing on a normal chess board that wasn't all fussy to play, hampered by tiny units (yes you can zoom in, but it's fussy) and the whole board is obscured by clouds, etc.
The game is obviously a labor of love which is why I gave it two stars instead of one since for me it's pretty much unplayabale, but maybe nice as a show piece, like a real world collectable chess set you'd keep under glass but never actually play.. But then, even still, there are many other iPad games I'd reach for sooner to impress someone with incredible graphics.
Clever But Unsatisfying
Great graphics In this unusual game of chess. There was some incredible programming out into this, and it is very visually appealing. However, as a chess game, I have a harder time visualizing my pieces when they all look so much the same. I much prefer just a regular game of chess, especially since this doesn't offer anything unique in the actual game play.
Neat concept but poor execution though it does seem a lot of work was put in. The game is all around a bit "laggy" and the pieces are hard to control. Pieces and icons are to small and the navigation is a bit wonky and annoying. Need more variation in the pieces to better define classes. It's hard to tell what's what and, in part, requires memorizing what was moved where.
