Needs multitasking support & wiki
I loved this game as a free Flash web game, and I love it on the iPhone. I just wish it had multitasking support. If I get a call when I'm 90% through a battle, when I return to the game it reverts to before the battle took place. Kind of frustrating. But it's still a very fun game. Add multitasking and I'd give it six stars!
I also would like to see the unit and upgrade descriptions updated to show which upgrades modify which units. For some units it is not obvious.
The only other defect I'd like to see fixed is the ranged AI. They charge forward into the melee instead of hanging back and shooting -- even when there is an enemy in range! No archer would kamikaze charge swordsmen like that. If a living enemy is in range, ranged units should not advance, period.
Great game with a few problems
I've had much fun time with this game. I would rate it five stars except for a few problems: I like the great sound effects, I liked the music for five minutes, then turned off the music - and it turned off the sound effects too. I turned the sound effects back on, and it turned the music back on. There seems to be no way to get the great sound effects of the battles without having the constant (and overly loud) music too. Second, archers are almost useless because they keep walking forward between shots, apparently eager to get their heads lopped off. If they backed up and fired, like axe throwers and javeliners do, or ar least stood still when they were in range, then archers might be useful sometimes. This problem means the wood elves' best unit is swordsmen, forget the useless rangers. Other than those easily-fixed problems, great game!
Ok, so for all the ppl who gave this game a lower rating because you can't play as the swat I say: GET OVER YOURSELVES! The game is great and if you're really going to give it a one out of five because you can't play a race is absurd. Also if you really MUST play as the swat race go online to armor games and look up the 2nd warlords... Because essentially what we have here is a sequal to the original, and it's obviously a much more polished game than the pc version with online multiplayer and obviously the touch screen work great for this game. The only gripe I have is that I've wasted too many hours of my life playing this game.
