The continued fall of espn
The only thing I even watch on espn anymore is their live sporting events. Almost all of their programs have become political statements or advertisements. I watch sports to get away from all the other crap you have to deal with in life. If I want political commentary I will watch CNN, MSNBC or whatever 24 hour news network I choose. I don't need this from espn; just show the highlights and debate sports, not social issues like the North Carolina bathroom laws or the continued jamming of the gay athlete (Michael Sam etc) down my throat. I don't care if a dude is gay. I couldn't tell you the last time I watched sportscenter. The new 6pm show is he worst thing ever. I gave it a chance but just couldn't take it anymore. Espn has destroyed their own brand to stand with all the political correct when they never needed to take a stand to begin with. People don't tune into espn to get lectured to or have agendas jammed down their throats. At least they still got the games.
Frustrating
While the app is generally good, it becomes extremely frustrating when watching a close game which extends into the time slotted for the next scheduled program because it goes blank, buffers and then tries to reconnect. Under Murphy's Law, this will happen right at the moment of a very big play in a very big match so by the time it reconnects, you've missed 30-40 secs of crucial action. All you get is the reaction of the crowd screaming so you have to look for a replay to know which play took place. Please ESPN, stop it. Once I'm connected, let me watch the programming without the need to "buffer" into the next scheduled program. Because it happens at the worst moment possible.
Enjoy the App but...
The app is good when it's working. It would be nice to have the option of just paying for what I watch instead of having to have a cable provider. With new streaming technology it would be nice to see Disney/ESPN catch up with customer demand and offer more options for "pay tv" on a mobile device. I mean really, how hard would it be to offer a payment plan separate from the cable/satellite tv companies. I believe they would bring in more paying customers if they could offer this but it does seem like in today's world everyone is in each other's pockets as far as corporations go so this suggestion probably won't go too far...
