What's New in Version 1.9.2
- Updated for iOS 9
- Performance Improvements

Performance getting better all the time, but could use some features
This app keeps improving all the time. Stability is much better than it ever has been. Selection of games is awesome; I can get just about any college football game I care to see. (I would love to see more international sports, too, though: more cricket, rugby.)
Even with vast improvement, there are a couple of features that are desperately needed. First, you've got to add a way to save your place. Not so hard for most US sports, but for cricket especially it's a real pain to have to fast forward through eight hours of a game (especially on AppleTV where it can take ten minutes just to fast forward back to your place!).
Second, you need a fwd skip button, too. Sure, I get that you don't want people to fast forward through the commercials, but there are plenty of times where you don't want to wait for a time out when they're icing the kicker or for an injury. And I swear I will watch sports center without having to stare at those same six slides of your anchors over and over and over and over and... Please, just a 30 sec skip button!
Unreliable, but Necessary
Watch ESPN is one of those apps any sports fan MUST have, but I can assure you that you will be frustrated trying to enjoy it. Irrespective of the quality of your WiFi connection the app will freeze frequently (though for some inexplicable reason the ads seem to stream perfectly well) and it will occasionally cause your device to crash and re-boot. It is also one of those apps that annoyingly and randomly asks you for your carrier or carrier login, an inquisition that almost always happens when you are trying to get something to play immediately lest you miss a single moment of "the game of the century."
Cherish the rare times when you can tap on an event and the stream continues uninterrupted for several hours, but prepare yourself emotionally for the vast majority of times when it doesn't.
I use WatchESPN when I am desperate, like when my favorite team is playing MNF and I'm still at work. But as soon as I'm near a real HD TV of any size I quickly abandon the app in favor of the more reliable wired connection. WatchESPN is an app that really WANTS to be good, but it just isn't there yet.
Here's the definitive review...I am right now trying to watch MNF but the app has been so disappointing in its performance that when the alert box appeared asking me to take time to write a review, rather than tap "Remind me Later," I figured I wasn't really missing anything so I chose to take the time to write this review.
That should speak volumes.
Works great; stable with no freezes
I have watched two consecutive weeks of college football on this app without any glitches, freezes, or problems whatsoever. In fact, today I had the option of watching a particular game on my regular TV in the family room or watch via the app down the hallway in the master bedroom. I opted to watch in the bedroom (less distraction for my wife). This app worked flawlessly streaming HD quality video whereby I did not miss watching my big screen HDTV at all! My home WiFi is decent to good -- I actually used the app in a distant room where the WiFi signal is reduced. Hence, overall I am VERY happy with the latest version of the app. A year ago (i.e. last college football season), the previous app version(s) did not perform as well (i.e. frequent freezes, etc.), so it is much improved. I give this current app five stars!
