Perfect Idea-Poor User Experience(UX)
Watch ESPN is invaluable. The sheer amount of content provided is massive. There is literally always something on for you to watch. Whether that is Monday Night Football to Heroes of the Storm PC game tournaments to Sportscenter. It also provides a massive list of carriers. However, the UX (user experience) is just average. Often I have to close the app, open multitasker, swipe up, then reopen app to get updated schedules. Seems like that would be something updated automatically. Also, when using devices with less resources the app doesn't automatically adjust to this. For example, I stream on my Chromebook then output to my tv but I cannot watch a full game because it is so choppy it is like watching a flip book sports game. Maybe I am spoiled by the Netflix UX but hey, when you expect something to just work you expect bit to just work.
Gezz I wish every app was as easy as this one. To let you know I'm not a Sports person but I do like certain events like anything to to w/ a pool, Olympics .. I'll watch all the events I really don't care what country wins but I do respect these people for the endless days that we don't see , that they get their bodies in shape.. I especially like those crazy fast water boating events with 2 people.. This app, the only thing I had to do was sign into my cable provider like any that uses streaming the events are a bit slower than the tv but it does not matter.. And you can watch past events which is very cool
Streams are always behind, annoying UI quirks
The streams are always up to three or four minutes behind what they show on cable, which will end up with a lot of people texting you about finales to games you haven't seen yet.
Also, and this isn't going into the score because I'm on the iOS 9.2 beta and don't know if that's what's causing this, but every time the low battery notification comes up or I use the quick reply, Notification Center, or mission control functions while a video is playing the video crashes and says it's failed to load. The only way to get it to reload is to close the app and restart it.
