Customer Reviews

I have only just begun to watch this program as a result of renewed interest in the World Cup of Soccer. My only regret is that I had not tried it sooner. My audio and image are very good to excellent and I have only a middling WiFi signal based on what we can get on San Juan Island via regular telephone lines. Obviously, this limits my bandwidth and speed yet the combination of Dish and my iPad's Retina screen make viewing still quite enjoyable. The broad range of ESPN's coverage, I expect, will satisfy my desire for sports entertainment for the foreseeable future. My additional wish would be for a workaround for the inability to watch Canadian television shows live as i can those broadcast in the United States. I can literally see Canada (Vancouver Island) yet am barred by treaty, I suppose or advertisers clout from using my lovely tools to be entertained on them with Canadian and American sports.

30 second replay, great

I don't frequently rate apps. This is one major exception. Tennis has been hard to find on network and cable TV. Until this year's (2014) Wimbledon you would find NBC starting major finals, then dropping if it went beyond their allotted time. I recorded the match to watch later only to have not recorded the last half hour. Missed seeing the last sets of majors! Now, espn has the contract for the majors and will not have the time constraint NBC followed. But, even better WatchESPN is "recording/saving" all tennis matches of the majors on this app. I can watch all of every match of the majors. To add icing: they added a 30 second rewind. The only thing better would be a 30 second advance.

The technology of the app is amazing - 5/5 stars.

However, echoing prior posts, PLEASE disable "helpful" on-screen news updates about the results of the actual game I'm trying to watch!

Three times now I've been catching up on a World Cup game I didn't have a chance to see, being careful not to check news, etc. - and all three times, the bottom bar flashes a headline with the results of the game I'm watching :) I minimized the bar while holding my hand to block the stories - no help, it un-minimized itself 10 minutes later when I paused the replay. I can't tell you how frustrating this is - I'm about to duct-tape the bottom third of my screen! Either give us a Setting to turn this off completely, or filter your news bar. Otherwise, you've removed 90% of the value of this app for me.
