Customer Reviews

Excellent start - UPDATED December 4, 2012

Version 1.1 review update:
This version is a definite improvement over the previous )which isn't all that bad to begin with). Very nice UI updates to make things look better and feel better, a little easier to use.

The primary feature I'm now waiting for is ability to include picture attachments into posts using either a service (CloudApp for example) or, on ADN side the new service.

I'm still wanting an iPad version in a bad way. 4 Star rating holds firm.

Original review is below - this is an update.
I've now had some serious playtime with this app and I've decided it's one of my absolutely favorite two iOS clients. I won't cheat this developer by giving the name of the other, but if you're an (ADN) user, you already know which it is and it's not the "robot" developer.

The timeline is clean and beautiful. I really like the whitespace and the option of a consolidated timeline, and more importantly the colors to indicate my own posts and mentions, which makes it easy to spot those when manually scrolling fast to catch-up.

There are a couple "hidden" interactive functions that are not obvious. If you're a finger-tapper I agree and my original concerns remain: too many taps to get to the stuff I want to see. However, swiping a post to the left instantly takes you to the discussion view. Kudos on the discussion view making it easy to see the post your are looking at and the actual post it is directly replying to.

Also: rather than tap on a post, press and hold and a very nice options menu appears for repost, reply, emailing, clicking links (including hashtags) and so on. If there were perhaps an intro tutorial (like many apps do) on first launch, many of the three or fewer star reviews would change their tune (or at least be more positive).

I really like the User Interface now that've become accustomed to it. I like it a lot. I've added a star to this review, but still lacking that fifth because the post view (full post) wastes a LOT of space in the box that displays the post. It's oversized but at least half. Which forces me to scroll down to see the quick-acces buttons like "conversation" or "reply", etc.

ONE QUESTION: When will there be an iPad version? I'm ready to buy that version right now.

Original review starts here and was three stars - I've since added a star and the concerns about requiring too many taps is not a concern any more - see above.
It's great idea: both and Twitter in one app. It's also a solid 1.0 release - stable, fast, feels nimble and lightweight.

Though it's incredibly simple and fast to switch between ADN and Twitter timelines, the rest is a little too-many taps to me: there are no indication (icons or other visual cues) of Twitter threads or ADN conversations, you have to tap on a post (to view the post on it's own screen) to be able to tap a weblink or view a conversation (hit or miss because their may or may not be one) and so on. Tip to developer - I see what you're doing with the clean UI and all, but it would be nice to repost/see a conversation without having to view the post singly first. It just feels like an unnecessary step.

In short: this is a GREAT app for reviewing both Twitter and ADN timelines because switching is as fast as a tap-tap. Interaction with feeds still needs work. But as I've said: for 1.0 inaugural release this app is solid. I have no doubt the rest of the features will come and usability will improve as the developer continues to refine it and add these things. If it were as mature and usable as the competing clients, it would surely be 5 stars. I'm deducting 1 star for the lack of features (sure to come) and 1 star for the clunkiness of interaction (having to view a post "full screen" to interact at all with it, for example). As updates come out and features make their way into the app, I will continue to review and increase my rating as we go along.

Definitely a rock solid start.
