Simple to use and effective, still room for improvement
This app is very helpful and tracking streaks and giving motivation. The streets are a nice touch. In terms of improvements, this app needs automatic backups with iCloud sync. It has dropbox backups but you must do them manually. Also the app should remember the date when you add a particular item to track so that previous dates for that item do not alter your graphs and charts. Finally, it would be helpful if there was a button to push to take you through past missing NH entries to get you caught up. As is, pushing the check mark button only takes you through the current day. Finally, this App could really take advantage of modern iOS features better, such as having a widget, 3D Touch, or an Apple Watch app. A good app overall, with some additions would it be the best streak tracker.
Superb app--especially for bad habits
I'm a habit app junkie, if you will, and have used most of the habit apps out there in different ways over the course of several years. Here's my set-up: For developing good habits as part of daily routines, I use a different app called Productive. For reasons I won't go into here, that app excels in that role. But developing good habits is a different experience from breaking bad ones, and when it comes to bad habits, that's where Way of Life shines. It's clean, elegant, and reliable, and the red-and-green indicators make it crystal clear when you've slipped up and when you did well. The various ways of viewing the data are enormously motivating and a real help. I am every bit as pleased with Way of Life as a tracker of bad habits as I am with Productive as a tracker of the good. They're a great team.
Good, could be great.
First, I really like it and am happy with the purchase but, think things can always be improved.
I think it should tie in to the iPhone Health app. Maybe to feed in the following types of journal entries automatically.
And it would be nice to have options for journal variables, for example under exercise, we could list 2-5 different types, swimming, running, planks, weights, kickboxing and then have a place to add the time spent. That way we don't have to use the limited notes features and you don't have to "skip" running when you went swimming instead, so your exercise goals and progress look more realistic. If there is already a way to do this, sorry I missed it.
I have to be careful not to have too many items in my journal, that was frustrating me initially.
I'm working on getting accustomed to making the entries as soon after I've completed them, but also trying to set aside sufficient time later in the early evening to cover snags.
If I think of other things, I'll come back and edit accordingly.
