Dungeon time stops when you do: smite monsters cleverly, not by mashing buttons!
With over 300 different types of items to be found, you will keep finding novel solutions to the over 130 different types of monsters you will face on your journey! You have time to think, but this is no puzzler - you will have to fight your adrenalin and use your sword or staff as much as your inventory. This is not a game of plodding through a fixed story, it's about experiencing the journey... and learning lessons that will help your next valiant attempt until you one day conquer the dungeon!
The procedurally-generated dungeon and vast array of possible items gives immense replay value. Some games you'll find a good weapon early, other times you'll rely on wands or potions, or some combination. Sometimes in sheer desperation you'll read a random unidentified scroll... will it be a scroll of fire that incinerates your clothes? Will it be a blessed scroll of teleportation for the ultimate escape?
If you have every played NetHack, DCSS, etc, this game will show you a whole new form of the "roguelike" genre.
When you get good enough to survive to 300 feet, you will be asked to upgrade your character to access the full dungeon. This is a one-off purchase for each type of character (for example, the sorcerer and sorceress are a single type - Evil Mages). The whole game can be played with any character - you only need to purchase your favourite character(s). This can also be seen/purchased in advance under Options/Store.
Upgraded to a new device or to iOS version? Just use the "Recover" button in Options/Store to get your character classes back.
What's New in Version 1.2
8 new classes, plus a load of new items and monsters to enjoy them with, like musical instruments, more stealth items (and more useful effects of stealth).
Superior OpenGLES 2 rendering.
WazHack. Exactly like the myth of Sisyphus -- ugh! Aweful!
WazHack got 99 cents from me. POS. What a scammer. Phisher. Don't buy this game. WazHack is the WORST!!! Waz is even worse.
If I could give it 0 stars, I would. Can I have my money back, you a@@hole? Hope you bought some lube with my 99 cents so you can f yourself a little better.
Update: so I tried to give this game another chance by playing a different character. Same result. I always name my pet FuckWaz.
I initially wanted to give this game a full five stars during my first 1/2 playing it. At 300ft you hit the paywall and have to spend $$ to continue. In my case, it was just 99 cents for a fighter -- and I couldn't wait to (and did). Kind of regret that now because I've played the game for quite awhile and can barely even back to 300ft (I think 365ft has been my best). It's just impossible at that point: the monsters you meet destroy you in a second. The game is so much fun and well made and I'd easily give it 5-stars if it weren't so insane. I would have deleted it by now, but I spent the 99 cents so keep expecting more game play -- which never comes. You die at some point up to or a little after 300ft no matter what, and then have to start all overfrom scratch. It's exactly like the myth of Sisyphus:
Veteran of Nethack approves
Long ago, since the 80's or so, I have plundered similar roguelike dungeons, searching for items such as the Amulet of Yendor or delving in Angband as a Dunedan Ranger. This game brings me back but offers a greater challenge, to a degree. Thus, I am addicted! Love the classes, love the pets, the artwork is great! All I ask is for more variety in certain areas, additional spells, classes, items and add races maybe(?). I've played this several times so far and usually get killed near the gnomish mine area but each time I restart it feels the same to some extent. Otherwise, outstanding! I will be playing this a lot...
A bit of a Rant
First of all I would like to state that this is one of, if not the best app I've downloaded. Yes, in the beginning it can be cruel and not as rewarding as you like it to be, but that doesn't mean this game isn't good. It disgusts me to see people that give this 1-2 stars because they can't get past 300ft even after paying because they die quickly. This game rewards good decision making and smart play, and even if you're incapable of both of those things, you shouldn't hate the game. 10/10 beat it and will be looking forward to future updates.
