Dungeon time stops when you do: smite monsters cleverly, not by mashing buttons!
With over 350 different types of items to be found, you will keep finding novel solutions to battling over 150 different types of monsters that you will face on your journey! You have time to think, but this is no puzzler - you will have to fight your adrenalin and use your sword or staff as much as your inventory.
The procedurally-generated dungeon and vast array of possible items gives immense replay value. Some games you'll find a good weapon early, other times you'll rely on wands or potions, or some combination. Sometimes in sheer desperation you'll read a random unidentified scroll... will it be a scroll of fire that incinerates your clothes? Will it be a blessed scroll of teleportation for the ultimate escape?
If you have ever played NetHack, DCSS, etc, this game will show you a whole new form of the roguelike genre.
When you get good enough to survive to 300 feet, you will be asked to upgrade your character to access the full dungeon. This is a one-off purchase for each type of character (for example, the sorcerer and sorceress are a single type - Evil Mages). The whole game can be played with any character - you only need to purchase your favourite character(s). This can also be seen/purchased in advance under Options/Store.
Upgraded to a new device or iOS version? Just use the "Recover" button in Options/Store to get your character classes back.
What's New in Version 1.3.4
Fixed dungeon being completely black on some devices.
Just played for 7 hours straight...
...and figure I owe Waz at LEAST a dollar. I'll buy more out of gratitude.
I love the updated Rogue-style game. Graphics are crisp, there's a good sense of humor hidden throughout (the hats!) and YES it's hard and random. If you don't know Rogue, let me clear it up: you never know if a potion will save you or kill you until you drink it. That's the beauty of it. Like life. And chocolates. Or even blind dates.
True to the original, just as the cackle of success starts to build in your throat, you are teleported to a lvl 7 demon... Oh, victory, why do you slip through my grasp so often!
It's like some kind of masochistic religion. Idk. But I'm grateful for the little "@" map in the corner. You don't let go of nostalgia.
Don't Listen to Complainers
It's hard, but that makes it all the more satisfying when you finally beat it. You will die the first 20 runs or so before you make it a third of the way, and then you'll die another 20 or so times trying to get to the end. Then you'll get the amulet you need to win the game and on your way up to the surface you'll say "why don't I try to beat that Roman place that was so hard earlier" and die again. But every time you die you will learn something new, or have old knowledge that you ignored be seared more permanently into your mind, resulting after many deaths in a fulfilled, confident you. Great game, worth buying the characters. One tip: charisma is THE MOST IMPORTANT STAT. GL HF!
Game got harder with updates
This game is a lot of fun but I forgot that I was going to skip getting the updates because of some of what I read about the changes. I don't really enjoy a dungeon crawling experience where the main goal is to find food so that you don't starve and that food rots really quickly in the newest version. In The previous versions apples and pears and bread stayed of good eating quality for the whole time. It really ruins the game. I won the old version twice and the new version never. Wish prices are too high to make use of. I'm playing as a barbarian which is supposed to be the easiest character class.
In summary: lots of fun, too hard. Give us a break, Waz! Thanks
P.S. used to be five stars.
