COVERAGE

Weather reports are available for nearly anywhere in the world. If in doubt, go to http://forecast.io and try your location to see if you like the report.

Radar is currently North America only, but I expect to support more soon.

The hour forecast is currently limited to US, UK, Ireland.

DAILY COMPARISON

When you're getting dressed, what do you want to know?

"How does today compare with yesterday?"

Weather Nerd includes a nice daily comparison:

"Today is 9° cooler than yesterday. No rain."

This makes it easy to grab the right coat.

MINUTE-TO-MINUTE FORECAST

Weather Nerd also gives you minute-by-minute rain predictions for your exact GPS location. Powered Dark Sky's cutting edge "hyperlocal precipitation forecasting system", these reports show you a nice graph of the rain intensity for the next hour based on your exact location. For example, you might see:

"Light rain starting in 10 minutes, stopping 15 minutes later."

DAILY FORECAST

The daily forecast screen shows you a graph of the temperature, rain, and wind for today. Touch anywhere on the graph to view the forecast for a specific hour.

At the bottom of the screen you'll see the current temperature and other details like the high, low, chance of precipitation, wind speed, direction, moon phase, sunset, sunrise, humidity, etc.

WEEKLY FORECAST

The weekly forecast shows you a quick graph of the projected highs and lows for the next week, along with the chance of rain. Touch any day to view the full forecast for that day.

BEYOND 7 DAYS

Need to see the forecast for two weeks or two months out? No problem. Weather Nerd's calendar lets you view the forecast for any date within the next year.

NERD OUT

For the real weather nerds, the "Nerd Out" feature will list out ALL of the weather information.

NERD ALERTS

Weather Nerd lets you setup a daily weather forecast alert (in 15 minute intervals). You can turn the alert on/off for certain days of the week.

If you set your alert to 6pm or later, then the forecast will be for "tomorrow's" weather.

ABOUT THE WEATHER REPORTS

Most of the data for this app is powered by the unbelievable team at Forecast.io. They combine data from up to 18 different sources and use statistical analysis to create the most accurate forecast possible.

NERD WIDGETS

Some of you nerds like to use iPhone and iPad widgets. No problem. Weather Nerd comes packaged with 3 different widgets for your viewing pleasure including graphs for the "Next Hour", "Daily Overview", and "Upcoming Week".

Why a subscription? The average nerd checks weather 4-5 times a day. Over a year, that alone cost nearly 1 USD to our providers. That's not counting additional data used for radar tiles, alerts, widgets, watch, multiple devices, servers, etc. It would be completely unsustainable to charge a one time fee for a lifetime of data.

What's New in Version 2.1

Bug fixes and a few minor features.

+ Various bugs, typos, and formatting
+ Forecast auto-updates on Apple Watch
+ New rain indicator on week graph

Nice

This is a nice weather app, I prefer the graph style before the text. I've been using Dark Sky for quite a while and I'm familiar with the accuracy of the predictions.
What I hate a lot in this app are the text fonts they use. I need a magnifying glass to clearly see the letters. They aren't small, but they're are crowded together. It always tires my eyes trying to read the data. I understand that they chose these fonts to save space, but I'm sure there is a better way to make this work. My 10 year old can read those letters without problems, but not me or my husband.
Suggestion: on the "today" page, where seems to be the "space" problem, the temperature digits can be a little smaller, then move the max and min temperatures below the actual.
Also, on the "week" page, I would like to see more colorful icons, instead of the black and white symbols: sun to be yellow, moon filled in white, clouds light or dark grey, depending on the weather.
That would be perfect!

Has everything going for it but..........

Weather Radar needs updating. Try looking at something like Wundergrounds Storm app. With all the details and info this app gives and then I have to look at a clunky radar that was good 5 years ago! 35 min span in 5 min increments. Not good enough to fit with the awesomeness of the rest of the app. Needs smoother scroll. 5min increments is good but do it over an hour or two. And have a future option of at least an hour out. The ability to scrub the radar to whatever point/time frame is also key. I'm cancelling my subscription until I see an update. I mean really, if your serious about your app, you shouldn't go more than a year without an update.

The best home screen" weather app

My new favorite way to check the weather (and I've used dozens of iOS weather apps). The "nerdy cloud" is now on my home screen as my go-to weather app and the new Apple Watch app is great. Really like the daily forecast notification, the "tomorrow" view and the calendar entry overlays. Looking forward to seeing where the devs can take this app. *Very glad to never see an ad!* I'd like to see an option to choose which screen is shown on launch and the ability to quickly swipe between day details from the week view (instead of having to keep going back to the week view), but those are just some minor suggestions. P.S. be sure to "Nerd Out"! :-)
