Description

As seen in 10% Happier, Atlantic Magazine and The New York Times.

Find happiness by contemplating your mortality with the WeCroak app. Each day, we’ll send you five invitations at randomized times to stop and think about death. It’s based on a Bhutanese folk saying that to be a happy person one must contemplate death five times daily.

The WeCroak invitations come at random times and at any moment just like death. When they come, you can open the app for a quote about death from a poet, philosopher, or notable thinker.

You are encouraged to take one moment for contemplation, conscious breathing or meditation when WeCroak notifications arrive. We find that a regular practice of contemplating mortality helps spur needed change, accept what we must, let go of things that don’t matter and honor things that do.

Join the WeCroak Leap Monthly Subscription for the following benefits:
• The largest database of over 1,000 quotes about death and impermanence
• Weekly challenges to help you take action and and live with impermanence
• The ability to turn your memories into personalized reminders about death. It’s a new feature based on age-old Stoic mortality contemplations

We’ve also added features to make WeCroak work with your modern life.
• WeCroak only sends notification between 7 AM and 10 PM
• Open the app once per week to keep receiving your five daily WeCroak invitations at randomized times

Subscription Information:

🌌 Memento mori🌲

My longtime friend died recently. I've used WeCroak daily since. I suggest:
> allow an option to archive favorites. Yes, a screenshot works...but it makes sense to include saving quotes in the app
> allow an option to set the number of notifications each day. Please consider leaving this decision to the user
> add quality quotes. Currently some are soul-piercing, some are filler. Perhaps every 100th quote you could request users’ favorite mortality quotation/s?
If you need to set an in-app-purchase for these features, many will be ready, including me, Please don’t add these features to the “Leap” subscription, though. Thanks.

2nd Best to Holy Quran

I literally never write reviews for anything whatsoever. But besides the Holy Quran, this Has to be one of the best apps I’ve ever downloaded. Just like praying five times a day do you get five daily reminder notifications from this app. If you don’t open the notifications they’ll eventually stop sending any. Constant quotes and reminders to make our lives in this world a better place. God bless whoever made and published this app. They must really care about people to make an app like this. I wish there was more quotes as every now and then I see the same quotes I’ve read before, but other than that it’s great can’t think of anything better. as for the premium features, it’s a nice addition. I don’t use anymore but it’s cool. One concern I do have is when I take pictures of my own and literally never see them again so that’s weird.

It’s improved!

When I first got this app in November 2017, I found the concept interesting but the practice underwhelming. The quotes were very weak, and that’s all the app really was at the time. Forcing myself to open WeCroak every time I got a notification was a meaningless chore. Since I downloaded it again, though, I found that the quotes have generally improved. Sure, they’re not all winners, but many have done a great job at getting me to ponder my own death in ways I haven’t done before. Opening the app when there’s a new notification has become a fulfilling, rewarding experience.

The Leap system is a nice touch, though I’m not sure I’m willing to pay for a subscription service in order to use it. But this app has come a long way from 2017. WeCroak has matured - and now, so have I.
