Big problems

Da Archduke

This app will get you your daily shows that WEEI offers most of the time, and you get the bonus of hearing what callers say to get themselves dropped since it isn’t on the same delay. It also has news from their website (which I generally ignore) and the channel-affiliated podcasts.

But if you want to hear any sports that are on the actual channel, look elsewhere. This becomes especially frustrating during baseball season, because the app has several hours of dead air almost daily. Another issue I have, and cannot explain, is that the app doesn’t work on Sundays. It’s a weird problem, and it’s existed as long as I’ve had the app. Also, the app will kick the crud out of your phone’s battery, so be prepared.

So if you’re like me, and don’t have a radio in your car, it is a viable option. But if you have a radio, I’d say it isn’t really worth it.

This app used to be good. Now it’s unusable.

I’ve used this app since version 1.0! It was one of the first sports apps in the Apple Store and was once one of the best. Now no longer. Now it’s barely useable. It crashes all the time. Especially at Night or on Weekends. It’s a miracle If you can get through a quick story or two before it crashes and you have to reopen. I end up copying and pasting long stories into Notes app just to read them.

Forget about listening to audio. 99% of the time I just go to Podcasts app and download the file rather than trying to listen to audio on demand on the app. Listening Live is only slightly better. Rather listen to Tune In app. Just not worth it.

Terrible, Awful

I LOVE WEEI. It is the only station I listen to and that is unlikely to change. The app, however, is the biggest piece of garbage I’ve ever used.

The thing crashes over and over and over. This is extremely frustrating on the days when I am unable to listen to Kirk & Callahan live, because my only option to hear them is via the ‘on demand’ feature within the app. In others words, I don’t get to hear the show on those days.

Sadly, this has been going on for years. Do I need to threaten to go over to 98.5 in order to get their attention? Fix the app, WEEI - this current version is an embarrassment.
