Issues to fix
I have been using this app forever and seen a lot of bug fixes and improvements. I haven't reviewed till now because I have an issue I can't find a work around for. I am apparently finding out I don't use the app in a typical way. I do not ever clear my list and start over. I have a list for Regular Shopping that I go through and uncheck the items I need for that particular trip. Therefore I do not ever want the app to clear any items from the list or uncheck them for me. The most recent version of the app clears whatever you have checked if you close one list and look at another. Please STOP. Don't mess with my list. Also don't ask me to clear my list when everything is checked. I never want to clear my list. Isn't that the whole point of an automated list, to not have to start over every time? Also another thing the app has always done that is annoying is how it handles adding items. If I add a new item no problem, if I uncheck an item I have on my list no problem, BUT if I attempt to search an add an item that is already on my list nothing happens when I add it again. I want the app to uncheck the item. Now at least I understand this feature. Wegmans apparently wants us to create a new list every time.
Why the change?
I'm updating my review from 06 November 2016 not to give more than one star, because that's all the new app still deserves in my opinion, but to simply say I finally filed a complaint on the iTunes Store feedback page describing the mess Wegman's had made of their app due to the obvious lack of testing and the failure of the app to perform as promised and expected, two guidelines that all developers of iOS apps for the iTunes Store must follow. I then asked Apple to consider taking the unusual step of actually forcing Wegman's to remove the update 5.x versions of their app from the Store until their developers fix it, and in the meantime, to re-enable the 4.x versions of the app that had been working for most people most of the time.
The old app was working just fine until yesterday. And now since the November 5 update, passwords and email addresses that worked for years, and that still work online, aren't working to sign on with the new or the old app. Whose idea was this new version anyway, and why are they being paid? Do the right thing, Wegmans - roll it back until the kinks are worked out, and please test it before re-releasing it.
Mostly love, 1 big drawback.
Things I love about this app:
1. I can scan items from my pantry into my list.
2. I can just search for items to add to my list.
3. I can see items I've purchased before and add them to my list.
4. It tallies up my (approximate) grocery total.
5. It organizes my grocery list by the order of the store.
Things I didn't love:
1. (Not a huge deal) It said a couple of the items on my list weren't available at my store that actually ARE available.
2. (This is a biggie for me) Toward the end of my list, it kept telling me that it looked like I was done and asked if I wanted to clear the list. I was NOT done, there were still unchecked items on my list, and the only way around this was to close the app and start it up again. Pretty annoying, but I didn't want to lose my list because I still needed to know what was on it.
Overall, I liked the app and will use it again, hoping for an update that will fix my problem. (If those fixes happen, I'd give the app 5 stars!)
