GOD BLESS YOU
Do you have any idea how long I’ve been looking for something like this?
A long time.
In Cal Newport’s “Deep Work”, he describes dedicating chunks of time to types of work. You identify a slot of time where you’ll focus on certain kinds of work. You’re not identifying a specific task, but a general one. You want a general idea of what you’re going to do in any given day. Why?
Your brain can only hold so many ideas at one time (about four chunks).
Most of the time, your brain avoids procrastination by looking at the environment for cues. But it’s not obvious what we have to do anymore because the cues aren’t in the environment anymore. There’s no cows to milk, water to get get, fruits to pick. Our work is abstracted away in a world of ideas.
This app provides a way to make the implicit explicit. It provides a way of showing you how you can spend your day.
Would you try to solve a math problem in your head? No. You’d write it on a piece of paper so you can layer your ideas on top of each other. Why? Because your memory isn’t perfect. But writing is.
Same thing with this app. You write out what you want to do today (in a general way). As events and circumstances change, you change your plan. And this app makes it easier to change your plans.
A plan shouldn’t be followed like a tyrant. It’s not a rigorous instruction book. It’s more like a reminder of what’s important to you.
Thanks for making this app as simple as it needs to be.

Flexible, Easy to navigate
I love having a digital planner! I’m a freelancer, stay at home mom, and overall busy person. Having a planner I can keep on my phone is awesome! I used to write everything in a notebook, but then between baby and life, wouldn’t have what I needed to remind myself of appointments or tasks.
With the app, I set it, note it, and can make an alarm for whatever it is, all on one happy spot. I love that I can customize the icons, so I can make it really all about me. I rarely save day plans because my days are so fluid, but having that option is great.
I sit down each night and set my Owaves for the next day, which helps me make sure to make time for myself, fitness, and overall, I’ve been able to manage my time and life so much better. It’s so easy, and has been a lifesaver!

Cumbersome and convoluted.
It is such a pain to enter anything! It’s a beautiful app, clearly they focused on looks. It’s a shame no attention was given to how someone would actually use it.
I tried to put in my work hours - you have to drag the work icon to the circle and then drag the color block around until you get it where you need it, then turn the circle so you can expand to your end time. When I tried to add my lunch I realized I couldn’t just insert it... I have to go back and move my work time and add another work time on the other side of lunch. You cannot just select and change the times. You have to drag things around the circle. The first few times didn’t bother me so much but it gets old REALLY fast. And if things change, you have to go in and adjust everything by dragging. I just don’t understand why they wouldn’t add a feature letting you type in times.
Hi Celena324, You brought up two very important points that our UX team is currently working on: 1) the ability to insert a new activity inside an existing segment on the O; and 2) the addition of a time picker. We are queuing in both of these ASAP. Meanwhile, we'd love for you to see the editing improvements we made to version 2.1 and let us know if you think we've done better? With kind regards, the Owaves team
