With the Wemo App, you can control all of your Wemos from anywhere in the world on your iOS devices.

Wemo is the simple way to a smarter home. Download the Wemo app and control your lights, appliances, or a whole room from your couch, coffee shop, or the Caribbean.

Pair your Wemo Mini, Light Switch, Insight, or Switch with Amazon Echo or Google Home and you can control your lights, your appliances, or a whole room without having to lift a finger.

You can schedule your lights to be on during specific hours, or simply sync lights and devices to the sun automatically.

Enable the “Away Mode” feature and your lights will turn on and off randomly, making it look like you’re home even when you’re not.

When paired with Nest's Thermostat, Nest's "home" and "away" modes can sync with your Wemo devices for automatic control. Nest can tell Wemo when you're home or away, so your fan can turn off to save energy when the house is empty. Or your lights can turn on automatically when you walk in the door.

"If This, Then That" is a free web-based service that opens up an amazing array of possibilities for your Wemo devices. Visit IFTTT.com to find "recipes" for making Wemo Mini turn lights on and off based on real-world events, send you push notifications about device activity, and much more.

These are just some of the things you can do with the Wemo app.

Good app, simple setup, but anemic error reporting and unexplained behavior

Bought two Wemo Mini smart plugs at Costco to control two lamps that are not suited for today’s smart light bulbs. Setup was quite simple, linking with IFTTT and Google Home equally quick. Control of one or all of the switches is handy using Google Home. I set up a schedule in IFTTT to turn both on at sunset, and this work. I tried setting up an auto off schedule (9 hrs after being on) for all switches on an iPad Air, several times, but it wouldn’t save for some reason, something like “Unable to save for devices, refresh devices and try again.” Huh? All devices were present and synced up with the app. Verified by turning them off and on with the app. I just did on an iPad Mini and it would save. The lack of an explanation of why it wouldn’t save on one device, but would on another, is queer.

I’ve enabled a “log when” action in IFTTT, and found that the switches both turned off 15 minutes after being turned on last night, and no auto-off schedule had been saved yet. Huh? That’s not good. If this repeats, I’ll have to return the switches. I need these not just for voice control, but the ability to have them come on before I return home, and make the home appear occupied.

Too buggy

I have several wemo switches and a couple plugs. The idea is great but they don’t work very well. Very temperamental and buggy. App frequently crashes. And it frequently doesn’t “detect” its own devices; whether the internet is up or not; sometimes even while I’m looking at it in the app and it just did. No rhyme or reason. Any time the internet goes out it’s a crapshoot as to whether they’ll reconnect or I’ll have to manually reconnect them. Not all of them do the same thing. Some reconnect, some do not. Recently I upgraded my router. Kept the same provider, network name, and password. Everything else wifi in the house automatically reconnected when I got it all set up. Not the wemo switches or plugs. I. Had. To. Reset. Each. One. Individually. The process for resetting them is temperamental and buggy and often doesn't work as it’s supposed to. It’s hit or miss whether the switch broadcasts its own wifi signal (something necessary for a reset) or not, no matter what you do. Very tedious and frustrating. I also have TP-Link smart plugs in the house and it’s a world of difference. Haven’t had any problems witj them at all. Not even one. Response time from Alexa is MUCH faster. What you’d expect from automation. Anyway, I've begun the process of replacing the wemo switches with TP-LINK switches. I wouldn’t recommend wemo devices.

This app was better in earlier versions

This app doesn't necessarily "crash," but it forgets everything any time you switch to another app (or lock your phone) then come back to it. Earlier versions were much better (or maybe faster) at recalling the status of your devices. You can no longer simply open the app (or even switch over to it from the background) and turn off your lights. The icons all spin in orange, and sometimes you have to refresh a time or two before all devices are as they should be (devices that are off show as on, some that are on show as off, some are "not found," even if the icon on the device itself says it's connected). Super inconvenient.
That's my only complaint. It's a simple app, does what it should (after it "finds" everything again), and does make some of my needs really handy (whole house fan, backyard lighting, BBQ area lighting, etc). This problem wasn't there in earlier versions of the app. It has slowly regressed to where it is now.
C'mon programmer guys n gals, put your heads together and clean this one up. Love everything else about this product and app.
Thank you in advance!
