App controls the WeMo Switch and WeMo Motion.
The iPhone home remote. Control stuff in your home – from anywhere.
Belkin’s new WeMo system is a family of simple, ingenious products that use your iPhone and your home Wi-Fi® network to connect you to the things and people you love. WeMo is your home at your fingertips.
WeMo can control just about anything.
With WeMo you can turn on a light from another room, or turn it off from across town. You can put your home on a schedule—living room lights go on in the evening, kids’ TV goes off at bedtime. You can check to make sure you turned the iron off, after you’ve already left. WeMo Switch is the iPhone home remote.
The Complete WeMo System.
The WeMo App runs on your iPhone and controls any electronic device you plug into a WeMo Switch—if you can plug it in, you can turn it on or off with WeMo. And WeMo Motion lets you control the devices when motion is detected. Have the floor lamp go on when you enter the living room, and turn off when you leave.
WeMo Switch and WeMo Motion are available at major retailers.
The WeMo family of products is great at automating repetitive tasks, and at allowing you to control your household in ways you’d never thought possible.
The beauty of WeMo is it’s completely modular. You can control as much or as little of your home as you like. Control one light, one room, or the whole house. There’s no limit to what WeMo can do. If you can think of it, you can probably do it with WeMo. WeMo is your home at your fingertips.

Very useful light switch
I purchased the WeMo switch because I needed to turn the driveway lights on while I am away from home. The light switch worked very well the for the first month, until a firmware update was sent, that is when my troubles started. I tried resetting the WeMo switch several times but it started working partially. To their credit, the customer support were very responsive, they first responded to my email, then they escalated the issue to second level support who called me with proposed solution, when that did not work I got a call from one of Belkin's engineers who walked me thru several steps and got the switch to work as it was supposed to.
Had the procedure been documented on the Belkin website it would not have taken this long to resolve the issue as the resolution took less than 10 minutes. Actually first level support should have been trained for this solution instead of raising it two levels up.
As a future feature I would like to have capability to control two or more switches on different networks as my iPhone now controls multiple switches but they have to be on one network.
I have three light switches, they rarely work right. I would say my phone only finds the switches about 20 percent of the time. Also, the app recognizes a bunch of my neighbor's wemo devices. And I can turn my neighbor's devices on and off. Customer service is terrible. When I asked how to unrecognize my neighbors devices, they gave me a canned response about "unplugging" the device and restarting it. Right, it's not a plug, it's a switch hard wired into the wall. But these idiots tell me to unplug it. No help whatsoever. Also, the app constantly reverts to non-cellular control, despite having set it up again and again. So I'm away from home and try to turn on a light, it tells me that remote control mode has not been enabled. And it can only be enabled when you are on your home wifi network, so then I have to wait to get home, in the dark, to enable it, again.
I have a remote control thermostat that works perfectly, I can change the temp, turn the heat and AC on and off, check the humidity in and out, all works flawlessly. But these idiots can't make a device that turns a light on and off. Even on the rare occasion it works, it's not like flicking a switch, it still takes 30 seconds to open the app, wait for it to find your device, and then wait for your device to turn on. Don't waste your money, what a piece of junk.
I've got 6 or 7 wemo plugs and with the exception of some issues with one or two setups, they've been great.
I've used these to control the lamps in the spare room for guests.
Control the Christmas tree lights.
Shutoff the power to my entertainment center when it's not in use.
Turn on/off the ip cameras used for baby monitors.
But it would be great to have:
1) Profiles. Everyone doesn't need to be able to control every switch. My house mates don't need to use the switches for the baby monitors. But if you have the app, you've got all the switches.
2) viewing options. I've got quite a few switches, I have to scroll now to see them all. Why not have a grid option with word wrapped titles and simple toggles next to them?
Plus the interface is downright huge on tablets, almost elementary. I like simple, but...
3) the option to link 2 wemos together. I've got 2 lamps on opposite sides of the room and I'd like to be able to turn them on simultaneously without resorting to IFTTT.
Other than those gripes, love the product! Works great with my new and old router.
