Be at home even when you’re not
WeMo is a family of products that you can use to control just about anything in your home – from anywhere. Adjust the temperature on your Crock-Pot® Smart Slow Cooker when you are running late at work, make sure the kids’ TV turns off at bedtime, and light up a dark room before you walk in. WeMo is designed to make your life a whole lot easier.
Set it, forget it, and get notifications
Don’t ever worry that you left your porch light on by setting a rule to turn off at sunrise, set alerts to let you know when your dryer cycle is done so your clothes won’t get wrinkled, and have your lights and electronics deter intruders by simulating occupancy while you are lying on a beach in Hawaii.
These are just some of the things you can do with the WeMo app.
Control WeMo with Amazon Echo
Turn on and off devices connected to your WeMo Light Switch, Insight, or Switch using your voice.
Integrate WeMo with IFTTT
With IFTTT (if this then that), you can connect your home to the web for endless possibilities. Set your sprinklers to stay off when rain is in the forecast or have the lights come on when you approach your front door. You can even have the lights flash when your favorite team scores.

What's New in Version 1.14
No trip to Cabo for us. We spent the holidays up to our jingle bells in code, working over the WEMO app and firmware. We’ll continue to improve the WEMO experience in the months to come, but here are a host of fixes to ring in the new year:
iOS Performance Improvements
• Improved device presentation, typography, and drawer behavior in the device list.
• New year’s resolution: fewer crashes, random spinners and gray-outs.
• Buttons respond faster.
• Fixed a rare issue that causes Sunrise Offset to get lost.
Firmware Update Improvements
• Streamlined the downloading process.
• Made firmware update check less intrusive.
• Fixed a rare case in which the app crashes while upgrading the firmware.
• Fixed an issue that caused update pop-ups to appear for devices no longer in use.
WEMO Link Improvements
• Overall accuracy has been improved for LEDs in both local and remote mode.
• Reduced LEDs lagging behind other WEMO devices in appearing in the app.
• You can now go to town creating LED rules in remote mode.
Works great but then... Poof!
Update: I finally got them to work again! For those that experience the trouble that I had.… this is what worked for me. I had to move the switch to the closest plug near my router. I was able to get one connected and then magically the other one reappeared in the app. I was then able to move switch back to its original outlet. Both switches seem to be working like they did before. yay!!!
OK first I have to say I got my two switches to connect perfectly months ago. I found it irritating than that any time there was a power failure you had to go through the steps to reconnect them but I was able to without any difficulties. Even though that was a pain, I was hoping a future app update would fix that. I liked them so much I bought many (6) as gifts for family members. Recently however, we had another power failure when we were gone. The switches do not reconnect on their own. Nor could I reconnect them remotely so they were useless until we returned. It is now going on two weeks of repeated unsuccessful attempts to reconnect. They are still useless. They connect to my Wi-Fi without any problems but the app can't seem to find the switches. It is very frustrating to say the least. (I have read a few of the other reviews and I think it's unfair and unkind to insult people that are experiencing problems reconnecting something they had no problem connecting initially. I truly am glad that they have not had difficulties.)
Used for about 2 years now, and newest update is a welcome change
I've used my wemo switch on/off for about two years now, and truthfully I think the latest update is actually pretty good, and I'm not one to believe in progress for progress's sake.
I used to not use this product very often because the app would either not open fast enough or my family would mistakenly turn off the lamp that's connected to the outlet instead of the wemo itself, making the wemo useless.
However, after this latest update, talking to my parents, and putting this app in the spot that the phone app traditionally occupies, I can say that this app is very effective.
I personally use it to turn on/off a giant light in my bedroom typically used for photography. It turns on at 6:00 am and goes off at 7:15. It's much more effective for me than using an alarm clock, and probably a lot more natural as well.
Vast improvement over previous versions
I've been a WeMo user for about 3 years now, using both the Switch and Insight Switch. Out of the box, everything worked beautifully and I was able to control and schedule my whole house fan during the spring-fall based on the weather of the day, thanks to my Nest and Yahoo! Weather app. In the winter, I'd use another switch to control our Econoheat ceramic heater. During vacations, I'd set up a few lamps with the switches to cycle on and off at various times of day to mimic as if someone were home.
As app updates and firmware a came out, the app really suffered. I'd lose the connection and would have to close out the app and reload and/or go to my circuit breaker to shut off the circuit in order to turn off the whole house fan (the switch is deep in the attic).
The latest firmware and app seems to work seamlessly without any issues. I'm happy.
