Developed by educators, What Doesn’t Belong is a fun way to build vocabulary and classification skills. The game is also a useful tool for OLSAT, ERB, or Stanford-Binet test preparation. Our mission is to enhance the cognitive skills of young children through fun and engaging iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad applications.
For each question, your child will see five pictures appear on the screen, one of which does not fit with the others. The child advances to the next question by dragging the picture that does not belong into the trash can in the lower left corner. To improve vocabulary and word retrieval, encourage your child to look carefully at the choices first. Then, ask your child to say the name of each picture.
Before your child drags the picture to the trash can, expand the learning experience by asking your child to identify WHY the picture does not belong and WHAT the other pictures have in common. For one picture to "not belong," the other four pictures must having something in common. For example, "The cheese does not belong because it is not a fruit." If your child needs assistance, offer a choice (i.e. “Is it a fruit or a vegetable?”). Help your child gain a clear understanding before moving on to the next question.
Learning can be an exciting and valuable way to interact with your child. For more information about What Does Not Belong? please visit us at www.Brain-Grow.com

What's New in Version 2.1
- Fixed glitch where last level would keep playing
- Visual improvement during level change
Great for categorization
I like this app a lot. It is great for categorization concepts. As i would with some lower level kids I don't mind playing the same levels over and over. I do wish that the app wasn't so picky about having your finger land right on the garbage can, something that is hard for these kids to manage. It should accept any where in that corner. Just for fun it would be cute if the picture shrank when it was placed i the garbage.
Not as expected
Unfortunately when you quit the game and want to start at another session, you have to start all the way over from the beginning. You then have to go through all the level once again. The levels do not progress in difficulty either. I thought this game would become more challenging as you move through the levels. Last thing, is that it does not accept correct answers until after multiple attempts. If company could make these changes would be much better!
I love everything about this app, unfortunately it isn't working properly for me. When I put items in the trash can I have to hold it there and sometimes drag it to the trash can several times. I work with children that are autistic, they already have a ton of frustrations, I don't want to add to their problems by attempting to share a frustrating app, or recommending this to other SLP(A)s. I originally tried the free app, my experience is the free apps don't always work as well as the paid app, this app proved my theory wrong, because after buying the app it still doesn't work.
