What Dog (A Microsoft Garage Project)
By Microsoft Corporation
What Dog, recognizes dogs and classifies them by their breed. As with any AI technology powered experiences, What Dog is able to learn and get better over time. While What Dog has knowledge of over a 100 popular pure breeds, it is still learning to recognize mixed breeds, so if we don't get it right, send us feedback from within the app, and then try again in the future!
What Dog Fun: Just for fun we include a fun mode that lets you find out what dog breeds you and your friends are.
Do some research: There's also an extensive collection of breeds that contains information such as disposition, size, coat and what types of families are best suited for each.
This is the kind of app you're going to take out when you're with your friends. You'll make fun of each other, comparing which breeds you look like, and posting the tagged photos. We hope you enjoy it and the what-dog.net website as much as we enjoyed building them!
The Microsoft Garage is an outlet for experimental projects for you to try. Learn more and discover other garage projects at http://garage.microsoft.com.
Application updated to support iOS 10 permissions model for Camera and Photos.

IT'S GOOD DESPITE THE OTHER REVIEWS!!
My dogs are little rescue puppies and when we got them we had no clue what they were. I found this app and tried it out and it gave me one main option as well as several others on what they could be which was great! A lot of people are complaining though. Of course the app needs to be updated, the interface is a bit dated. But the idea that the app isn't 100% accurate it ridiculous. OF COURSE IT WON'T BE 100% CORRECT, YOU'RE ONLY SENDING IN A PICTURE NOT A DNA SAMPLE! This is the best free app there is no question it gives you all the information you need. If you want complete accuracy buy the $5.99 app or get your dog a DNA test!!
My dogs are all mixed and so none of the readings were accurate.. BUT THAT'S EXPECTED. Sometimes different angles would show different results but of course that will happen, it's pictures being reviewed not full analytical videos with measurements. I did also do one picture of my friend's dog, a boxer, and of course it was accurate! This app is more accurate with non mixed breeds but that should be common knowledge. As for those of us with special mixed puppers, it's still fun to see what the app will guess. I love it!
Doesn’t work! First I took a picture of my very large, but not overweight, 85 lb full blood Doberman Pincher lying down with head up. It said, “It is not a dog.“ So giving it the benefit of a doubt I tried a picture of my dog’s head next to a headrest in my car, where you can obviously see the size comparison of his head to the headrest. He has his ears cropped in the show cut (which I didn’t do, by the way). It said 60% or so that it was a Miniature Pincher. The rest were other small breed dog options. So I picked a picture where I thought there was no doubt as to the breed. He is a textbook large red Dobie. It still came up with Min Pin.
I give up!! Going to delete now. Waste of my time!!
