Jamie Lee Curtis’ beloved children's book has been re-imagined and transformed into a breathtaking interactive experience that lets you follow a balloon on its imaginary journey after it’s accidentally released from a little boy’s grasp.

This app has been specifically designed to provide hour after hour of entertainment and creative play. Highlights include the chance to:

★ Create your own animated movies in the Balloon Theater: Your creativity’s in the spotlight as you build your own balloon characters (you can even use your own picture!), record dialog and enact scenes.

★ Clown around by creating your own balloon animals: “inflate” virtual balloons then swipe the screen to twist and turn them into fun shapes.

★ Have a giggle-fit listening to a funny “helium version” of your voice! (try singing your child’s favorite song and playing it back: guaranteed laughs!)

★ Send hand-written e-postcards to your friends and family as you join the missing balloon on vacation.

★ Make over 200 balloons sway in time to the music at the “Big Balloon Dance” (can you find them all?)

★ Use a virtual fan to blow the balloons around, play with your food at the balloon dinner-table, connect-the-dots to create new constellations in space, and much, much more!

★ There are literally HUNDREDS of interactions built into the app, creating a fresh experience each time!

Amidst all the fun, kids will be learning too – building valuable literacy skills thanks to the following reading options:

★ Listen to the story, narrated by Jamie Lee Curtis herself, while the text is displayed “Karaoke-style” (each word is highlighted as it’s read)

★ Touch a word on the page to highlight it and hear it spoken aloud.

Right on for kids!

Regretfool

Finally a story that addresses the old question, where do balloons go? I have a 5 year old grandchild that still recalls the day I accidentally released her red balloon when she was 3 years old. "So grandma, where did it go? Did it go to the same place where it would have gone if I let it go?" I am delighted with this purchase. Some day I would like to be able to purchase a story about the damage balloons do to our environment. Perhaps when my grandchild is older.

Hangs, and also much is not intuitive or obvious.

Nice concept but, apart from the already-noted-by-many hangs (page2, but also later), there are a number of elements that are not intuitive for a child. My very bright, iPad-experienced 4-year-old granddaughter was clearly intrigued at first by this application, but lost interest because of the frustrating hangs, and because she could not perceive what to do on certain pages.

Although Ms. Curtis' introduction explains how to find and use many of the interactive elements, it's unrealistic to expect a young child to remember all of those instructions once immersed in the story. Accordingly, I suggest modifications that either use arrows to point to, or highlight-by-throbbing, those interactive elements that are not obvious.

Way to go Jamie Lee and Auryn

Great ebook app

I was thrilled to learn that Jamie Lee Curtis was partnering with one of the best ebook developers in the industry to bring her book "Where Do Balloons Go?" to life on the iPad. After downloading it this morning, I am happy to say that I am not disappointed. The soothing voice of Jamie Lee to narrate the story is fantastic and the illustrations don't disappoint either. I love the interactivity within the app, including the balloon theater. I highly recommend this app for anyone that has children and is looking for the best ebook app to be released yet this summer!
