Description

Where’s my MBTA Bus? Version 2.3
Developed by Alex Grinman

“Where’s my MBTA Bus?” is an app for Massachusetts transit riders who want to know exactly where their bus is and when it will arrive. It can help riders decide if they need to rush or can restfully finish their morning coffee.

Features:

- Universal app; supports iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch

- Real-time arrival predictions for ALL MBTA bus stops
- Real-time bus locations for ALL MBTA routes
- View official MBTA Alerts

- Guided navigation to help riders find their stops
- View entire route path with all stops on the map

- Save stops as Favorites to ensure quick access at any time
- Quick access to predictions for the last viewed stop
- Automatic refreshing of predictions and bus locations

This app relies on MBTA partnership with NextBus inc, to provide real-time bus arrival predictions. Data is provided by NextBus using MBTA raw data. Using their special formula, NextBus is able to provide not only bus locations, but arrival predictions for every single bus stop. The app provides a pre-filled template to report problems, letting riders send feedback and improve the accuracy of predictions.

This App requires an Internet connection (3G, 4G, LTE or WiFi) to get access to real-time data.

What's New in Version 2.3

- Completely redesigned and optimized for iOS 7
- Re-order and edit Favorites from the home screen
- Delay indicator added to predictions
- iPad user experience simplified

Magic. Took all the anxiety out of riding the bus

This app is honestly the best one I have. I ride the bus a lot, and during off hours, it was always a crap shoot. I could wait 5 minutes, or I could wait 40. It was so stressful when trying to get somewhere on time, or wondering if I had time to run and grab a cup of coffee before the bus came. Now, no more guessing. I got this app about a month ago and have used it around 15-20 times, and every single time the bus has come within one minute of when the app said it would. I find this incredible! If you are a frequent bus rider, or just an occasional one, do yourself a big favor and get this app.

I do have a suggestion for improvement, though. It would be nice if the app could use your current location and tell you the closest bus stops, and which routes they serve. This would be hugely helpful if in an unfamiliar area.

my travel buddy

I love this app! I especially love the bookmarking feature - I have all my relevant buses/routes right on the front page. Any time the app freezes while it's loading (encounters an error) I just double tap the home button and start it again. Didn't give it five stars, however, because it's missing the one thing that would make it perfect for me: I need to know if the next bus is the last bus! Just a small note, maybe, but essential for someone who gets out of work at 11-11:20 and has to take an outer city(?) bus. (Also, reminders would be cool too! Like maybe a ping or two when there's a bus nearby or I need to move a little faster to catch the next one or whatever.)

Could Use an Update

When it's working, this is a fantastic app. Thankfully accurate with the bus times on a regular basis (which is not always easy to do with traffic), and the map interface has helped me both find the nearest stop on a line and satisfied lots of curiosity as to where a bus terminates.

Problem is, this app frequently can get stuck "loading" (and therefore crash). If there was an option to refresh a page within the app--as opposed to restarting my iPhone 5 every time it freezes--I would appreciate it's efficiency all the more.
