Bias is Getting Unacceptable
I have played this game for at least 2 years now and the critiques I am hearing from much older comments still exist. My issue is one that relates to our current world situation. I have a child serving in the US military defending our country against terrorist extremists. When many normal English words fail to show up in the dictionary because they relate to human bodily function or sexuality (though proper English words that are NOT in an of themselves vulgar), I was dismayed. But then when words that are loosely transliterated that have to do with mid eastern culture and religion so show up (obscure as they are to many English speaking US citizens), I am enraged. Please consider how this might be more balanced. PS, I finals gave up on beating those few puzzles that use nothing common and are only intended to end the game and I just use a cheat to get past them. Good game and one of my favorite "go-to" short games to kill a few minutes, but won't do it without keeping an eye out for political and moral bias. This goes only so far and then I hit delete.
I played this for a long time. It is challenging and interesting. But, I am tired if the extreme cultural bias that is used for which words are I'm the dictionary. There were MANY times when words that are recognized by our Webster Dictionary were not included. Almost always, these words were associated with women, homosexuals, or minority populations, etc. It was actually bizarre. I kept wondering of it was a foreign language thing, but the app's dictionary was extensive and often included random words that were either archaic or actually another language. For example, the word 'Zion' was not accepted. But the app would accept the word which means a small red berries plant only found in Asia! (I made that up, I can't remember the exact word.) I don't mind not knowing the word, because I can figure it out from the way they line the answers up alphabetically. What I object to is having certain language, like the word "gay", be unacceptable as a submission. (Maybe someone thought this was slang, but they should review their history.) Anyway. Thanks.
NOT common usage words
I use this game for stroke recovery, but if it weren't for that, I wouldn't recommend for one reason: I've done over 22,000 puzzles in this game, and the words are all supposed to be English words of common usage. It is NOT. There are many foreign words and extremely obscure words. 90% of the words are common usage, but when trying to complete a puzzle, finding those last words can be very, very difficult to advance to the next puzzle. I suppose that's what makes the game challenging, but again, there are a whole lotta words that are not common usage words in this puzzle. I've played other word games that actually do stick to common usage and don't have such obscure words. This game unfortunately does not. I use it because if one good reason: no time limit gives me the option of continuing to work until I have all the words. Other games time you out. So for that reason alone, I keep playing.
