Very frustrating product, false sense of security

I pre ordered the Whistle years before they came out, and was very excited when they finally were available. But from day one the trackers had significant issues. One of my dogs is older and mostly deaf, but still very active. I live on acreage and only let him out if I'm watching him. But sometimes he will manage to disappear in the woods even tho I'm watching him. The Whistle was to locate him in those situations, before he can get hurt or lost. Repeatedly it will take 20-30 minutes before it will actually locate him, if it locates at all. I've called Whistle support REPEATEDLY over this, since a dog can get a LONG way in an hour, potentially in some dangerous situations! I've been told by Whistle that it's completely acceptable for it to take 30 minutes to update the location. NO IT'S NOT! The battery lasts MAYBE 36 hours, and that's when it's near the base station. It's been a very frustrating, expensive product, especially since it hasn't worked well since day one. I've contacted Whistle SO many times and they have been pretty terrible as well. Customer Service is awful. The last time I called about ANOTHER issue, they just suggested buying the new model, even tho the ones I've had have NEVER worked and I've been paying on them over a year. When I expressed concern that the issues would remain nothing was offered to me. It's been a frustrating experience with not a great company. I do NOT recommend this product.
Not even a little bit reliable
For the third time in the past month, the whistle 3 tracker has completely stopped responding and will not connect or report my dog's location. The one time it did work, it took nearly 45 minutes to locate my dog - 100% unacceptable when their claim is that this is constant gps tracking! This time, it has been over 48 hours since it last told me ANYTHING about my dog's location and I've been driving all over the city with her and I see the thing on her neck. What a crock! Their support is days between answers and they have not resolved any of my problems or concerns yet. It currently shows my dog is stuck on the interstate for the last 48+ hours... Nope. When I try to locate her, it struggles for 5 minutes, then I keep getting the message "We're having trouble locating Reese. Please try again." I live in a big city with ample cell coverage everywhere I'm going. This issue is related to the device and its components.. not the coverage where I live, which is what they've tried to tell me is causing the issue in the past. Overall, completely unimpressed and feel like a moron that I bought a year of this awful service up front. Save your money! This is NOT a good investment for you or your dog. They are also not giving service returns. Maybe get an actual whistle and you'll have better luck finding your dog.

Since Whistle bought them out I've had nothing but troubles. The product is not reliable. It comes off the collar and no warning is sent. We leave the safe zone and no warning is sent or its sent hours later. We return to the safe zone and no notice is sent. If you're only using this to track activity it's probably fine. If you have a dog who is a runner it provides a certain amount of comfort that you can track the dog, but I don't trust it to actually be working or stay on the collar. There is no easy way to find it if it falls off in the safe zone. A flashing light or chirp would be so helpful. There should also be a blaze orange version to make it easier to see outside. I'll keep using it because I don't know of a better option, but when I find one, I will switch. On a positive note their service is very good and they have worked hard to fix the issues I keep having. This would be a 5 star review if I could trust it to stay on the collar and update location reliably and quickly.
