This is a great app. It includes every feature I could want (except a secure phone) and all work great and are EASY to use. I hope people take security and spying seriously and quickly adopt AND use Wickr. Sure I use it to send sensitive text, but the ability to send audio, photos, video, and attached docs make it so much more useful. Using Touch ID is “in the works”, but will happen faster if you all request it. You can even do that from the app. It’s already indispensable, but the addition of an encrypted phone, something like Signal, would make it absolutely complete. Last, the complaint about screen shots is off base. There is NO method where an intended receiver can get the message, text, image, or audio, that can’t be heard, photographed, or observed by a co-conspirator working against you. Keeping everything on your personal device, in your control, encrypted, then wiped, is as good as it gets. What’s App and the rest ALL have your personal information, encryption key, and your message has gone through their servers where details are stored.
Great Idea, Excellent Execution, Needed App!
In this day and age of technology, and post 9/11 we as Americans have "lost our rite to privacy" in ways we never imagined and free speech is as pivotal as the right to think freely. This app is great in that, our private business is just that, private, and this app helps ensure that your comments stay between the people it was intended and not just laying on a server waiting to be taken out of context where a future employer, lover, friend... Or worse, enemy, scorned lover, friend, press or government could find it and use something against you. Just wait until a presidential candidate loses because they "sexted" decades before and are "exposed"(pardon the pun)!
Just plain makes sense!!
Informative too, there's info about which companies share what and how freely or not they are willing to divulge and notify their customers. If I were to have a group digging around looking at my data, don't I/you/we have the right to know, and potentially block them? I understand there is room for abuse but the good outweighs the bad in my opinion.
Remember we as Americans have a duty to be the land of the free, our government was based on that concept and when you're recorded driving, by stores, ATMs, etc. we give some of that up for the greater good. Now we can take a little of that back.

I don't know if there's an api to turn off screen shots, but I think this misses the point of the app. You can also copy and paste from wikr to another app (by design), and even if all this were disabled you can always photograph the screen with another device. The protection wikr offers is from 3rd party snooping and subpoena, not participant disclosure.
I guess I can see where someone might want to deliver messages to an interlocutor who was untrusted, but that's a very different and more difficult to problem.
Though I haven't tried to crack it using network monitoring tools , wikr appears to have solved the problem for which it was designed quite elegantly.
