★★★HOW IT WORKS★★★
① Download the files to your computer from gearapps.com
② Transfer them to your iPhone/iPad using iTunes (very simple to do, instructions on the page)
③ Read any article. You can view up to 10 articles before having to activate (through in-app purchase)
④ Activation cost is 3$. You only ever pay once even if you install across multiple devices (the App Store may ask for payment again, but don't worry: the App Store remembers your past purchases and will NOT charge you again). You can load all the languages and files you want, as long as they belong to the same edition (for example "June 2012 Edition").
However, updating to newer files (that is, files outside the activated edition) requires activation again.

This app works perfectly for me. I love it! I'm always traveling and love to learn, so I've been looking for an app that will let me access the entire Wikipedia database on my iPod Touch. While several apps do this, most of those are $10 or more. With WikiGear, though, you can get all that for just $2.99, plus a free trial.
A few drawbacks: it takes a while to download all of the files onto your computer (for me it took about 12 hours) but of course you can just let it run in the background. Also, I think you have to pay every time you want to update your files, so for those of us that want to "stay current," free updates would be awesome. Pictures would be nice too, but again that's just a luxury.
Obviously, it takes up a lot of space on your device, so don't get it if you're running out of memory. Basically, this is a great app if you're like me; i.e. if you like learning but don't always have access to wifi. I'm just still amazed that I can hold so much information in my hand! Thanks guys!
