Wolof Mobile was created by Norwich University in support of Vermont Army National Guardsmen providing disaster response and recovery training in Senegal. It is a complete situational language-learning app for iPhone. Everything from common phrases to stories, spoken by native Senegalese speakers, right in your pocket! We welcome its use by all. My wife and I are both American expats living in Senegal. In an effort to avoid the stigma of using the colonial language, we decided to learn Wolof rather than Francais. The response from the locals to our broken attempts at Wolof has been quite amazing. Their faces seem to brighten and most are eager to help us in our language studies. If you plan to stay in West Africa for any extended period, we recommend learning Wolof. This app has been a wonderful addition to our formal studies. We love the practical vocabulary and the slow delivery of the words (so that our toubab ears can register the nuances in the language). The videos are great as well -- particularly the cab video from snowy Vermont-- hilarious! Thank you so much for creating this app.
