Woot = Great! App = Could be better.
I love shopping at Woot and eagerly look forward to checking out each days' offerings. The app is good for a quick look at the deals of the day, and for the special "Appsclusive" items, but it is no replacement for the full site. The app does not take advantage of iOS features like changing device orientation, or improved resolution and larger screen space on the iPad. Instead, it's locked into low resolution in one position only. I am active in the forums, which I believe is one of Woot's strongest features in building customer loyalty, yet the app does not have access to them. Only the full site via a browser shows the full content.
So, if you want a quick look at what is happening on Woot each day, the app does that. For everything else? Not so much.
Not like the old days but close enough.
Ok the app is good. The deals are good to great. But not super like in the old days but no there is so much more listed. They have a large variety of deals. I do miss my old Bags Of Crap deals. Now they call it Bag of Crap still but it is almost 100% crap. Back in the day you would normally get at least something to brag about but now... I haven't seen anything anyone has gotten as worth it. But the app is good for switch through the deals fast at midnight.
Lots of fun! Also easy to use and all that...
I realize you mostly purchase things in this app, but I have a lot of fun exploring and just checking things out, too. Woot is pretty awesome, and this app captures enough to let you see the items for sale with all the details, while maintaining the casual attitude of the company. Navigation is straightforward, the design is simple yet engaging, and you get to buy stuff at decent prices. It does redirect you to safari to checkout, but that's not too bad. All in all, I'm happy with this app.
