Exactly what I️ was looking for
So far, this is exactly what I wanted. Not only does it give you a new word everyday, you can go back and look at past days and what the words were. Even MORE fun and enticing for me is the search function. I am an avid reader, lots of times I come across words I can figure the meaning of just by the sentence it’s in. But this app has a function my phone lost last time ‘They’ made the new year and new phone....it will speak the words for you. That’s just invaluable to me; not only do I get to read dictionary definition, I can learn how to say the word too. Ultimately making it more likely the new words I learn will make it out into my conversation. Thank y’all for the great app and thank you for making it available without pay.
Advancing Your own vocabulary
I’ve always been interested in the English language. About 4-5 yrs ago, something happened to cause me to lose some of my memory. I found myself asking what the simplest words meant, and also how to spell them. I got a lot of my memory back over time, but not all of it. This app has been a blessing! My 25 yr old Son loves it too. He believes everyone should always push to advance their own vocabulary. So thank you very much.
Of course this app does what it says - serves up a word each day. Sometimes the words are great; sometimes they are silly. I wasn’t very excited to see “banquet” the other day, for example. But today’s word is “droll”, which is certainly underused, so it’s a good choice. I like the old sentence examples better. The new ones are a bit obvious like “When someone is droll they are...” or “Droll humor is humor that...” I guess that’s technically using it in a sentence. Despite the small flaws, I’ll be keeping this app.
