Ratings and Reviews
Not helpful for beginners
This app has a wide range of commonly used phrases, and the recordings are great for memorizing what the phrases sound like-- you might even remember one or two if you hear them.....but this is NOT for the beginner. There are no lessons to teach you basic sentence structure, intonation, etc... I was hoping this would start with basic vocabulary words first and then let me work up to compiling individual vocab words into a sentence.
Another frustration is that the app will show you a word, and below it are several sentences with the word in them. You can play 'super sleuth' to try and dissect each sentence, but it would be nicer to have a direct English translation under the other words so that you can learn as you go.
There are some great learning apps for the iPad, and Nintendo DS My Chinese Coach is another alternative for those beginners looking to get started in Mandarin.
Take caution before buying...
Lack of content, but not horrible. All of the example sentences don't exactly give you spoken sentences, just numbers at the end. The worst part is the poor programming. Makes this program a little laggy. Not responsive in certain aspects. Definitely needs some updates before it's even worth 10$ I've had some experiences with this company... so don't expect updates at all. Horrible customer service. If they update with great imprvements, might have some chance or redemption. Made the mistake of buying two of their softwares from the APP store, hope it would be better quality than thier Ipod programs... NOPE! Just don't expect much from this, has ok vocabulary, and nice looking. But functionality, meh.
-Some Words are Different from the sample sentences.
-Some words are not provided with audio sample.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
