Customer Reviews

No longer confirms before playing a word!

Is it just me or did a recent update remove the confirmation dialog when hitting "Play"? Now, the word is sent without a second tap; and it's too easy to tap Play by mistake! I've updated since I noticed it and it still works that way.

I love playing WwF with my friends. Even though I don't like the changes that have crept in over the years, I mostly understand why they were added. but I'm frustrated with the way it now operates. There are people that I started a game with, by mistake, and they are permanently in my friends list with no way that I can see to remove them. Worse is that WwF keeps asking me if I want to start another game with them!

And I get it that Apple's pricing system makes it hard for a company to continue to get revenue from customers that have already bought the game. That's why so many apps require a subscription or add in some sort of in-game currency. I paid $2 for this games and have gotten years of play time out of it. So, I understand it... but I still find it frustrating. I agree with another commenter about the tile placement assist features: it would be good to have an opt-out and a way to let others know that you're not playing that way, or maybe a way to start a game with those options disabled.

It's good to add features, but when those feature fundamentally change the way an app is used, then it is almost always easy and harmless to add an opt-out setting in the preferences.

Hate the new version

I've been playing this for a long time and all of the CHEAT options are horrible. I refuse to use them and think there should be an OPT OUT for word radar and the other one you just added. Once you opt out, it could show on your profile that you aren't using the cheats so people know you aren't utilizing the options that tell you where to play your tiles.
Also, all of a sudden there is a number in the shopping cart which I had never noticed before. Mine had an "8" and I touched the shopping cart icon which appeared to give you options to somehow purchase more cheats. (I didn't read it all.) it took several tries to figure out how to get off of that screen and now there's a "5" in my cart. PLEASE STOP RUINING THE GAME and stop constantly trying to push more and more games, cheats and the "badges." I like to enjoy WWF without the pressure and barrage of more and more games. Trust me, your loyal players will continue to play without all the nonsense. And, we all had to learn (and continue to do so) how to play from other players' styles. Losing builds stronger skills.

Some changes are not improvements

Good things: it's fun! I like playing with new folks as well as my regulars. I learn new and more words. The chat feature is a good feature. I appreciate that profanity is generally not allowed.

Not-so-good things: why do you insert those requests to start a new game when the person identified did NOT initiate that request? I hate that new tactic. The challenge awards seemed good at first, but the levels go far too high too fast. Many of my former game friends are just no longer willing to play. The friendly competition implied by the name of the game has essentially been ruined by what looks like an unintended consequence of a skewed idea that might get more play (it defeated itself). Don't want useless coins, either. These "not-so-brilliant" innovations hurt the game instead of helping it!

If it wasn't for those last bad things, I would say it is a 5 star game. Can you fix those?
