WorkBurst is the easiest way to instantly boost your productivity — with no confusing settings or extra buttons to push. Simply press start and get to work.
When it’s time for a break, your screen will dim to let you know.
Loosely based on the popular pomodoro technique, WorkBurst is the best way to power through tough tasks.
The WorkBurst method is simple:
- Pick a single task.
- Start WorkBurst and work for 25 solid minutes
- Take a break for five minutes
- Every four cycles, take a 10 minute break
WorkBurst’s break alert is the perfect blend of informative and non-intrusive. When it’s time to stop working, your screen with dim to 20 percent brightness. This helps your brain properly separate work-time from break-time, allowing you to take full advantage of your period of rest.
Want to check your email or social network during the break? Turn up the brightness a couple of notches. When it’s time to work again, your screen will return to full brightness.
WorkBurst is perfect for full-time productivity gurus or late-night college cramming.
Have a hard deadline tomorrow? Use WorkBurst to power through your all-nighter. You’ll get more work done than you ever thought possible.
Try WorkBurst. It’ll change the way you work.

What's New in Version 1.2
* Screen no longer goes to 100% brightness when timer started or stopped, huzzah!
* Ability to disable the "bell" sound effect (finally, right?)
Not configurable enough
I like the ability to use screen dimming as the notification option and this is one of the few Pomodoro-style apps with this claim, but the lack of controls and configuration (you can only turn the audio alarm on and off) is very disorienting. The first few times I used the timer I worked right through the first break as I didn’t notice the screen dimming. This could be because I use two monitors, and only one of them seemed to dim and even that wasn’t very noticeable (didn’t look like 20% brightness to me.). Hope this app continues to be developed, as this feature would be perfect for the way I like to work!
Good Start but could use some work...
I like the idea of the pomodoro timer, and while workburst is a great start, it really needs to be personally configurable. I would like to be able to set the brightness level during the breaks. also the Length of time. It’s a great start, and I find it very effective but I’d like to see it have more options.
Great idea, but…
Great idea, but needs configuration… especially with the time. My time intervals are different than the Pomodoro time, so for now, this is useless. PLEASE ADD CONFIGURATION SUPPORT!
