What's New in Version 3.2.0
Fix for an issue where the play/pause button might become unresponsive.
works only "okay," won't shut down
No updates since April, 2014, when it was claimed a bug with the pause button was fixed. Yet there are reviews since then claiming it is fixed.
In February, 2015, under 8.1, this app still does not stop streaming when you press the pause button in the app or the lock screen. There is visual feedback that the OS registers a tap on the button. So ... application dev fail. It's not enough to simply create an app and release it -- you have to MAINTAIN it, fixing bugs and updating for OS updates.
HOW TO TURN OFF: you don't have to shut down your iOS device. Just hit the home button to return to your home screen. Now tap the Home button twice to bring up the recent apps view. Drag the WUNC app upwards and off the screen. That will stop the app without powering down the entire device.
I like it, but it could be less buggy
I really like using this app to listen to NPR while walking. For the most part, it does exactly what it is supposed to do, and often does it well. The issues I have run across are:
- stops responding to commands. Stream won't turn off if pause button is pressed, or turn on when paused. I cannot isolate the series of events that cause this to happen. The solution is to double-tap the Home button, slide the app off the screen, then restart
- signal loss for apparently no good reason. I'd blame my carrier (Sprint), except it happens too often in areas of good reception plus when using wifi. Frustrating when listening to a good news story or having to pull phone out of pocket, click play (hoping the button works), and then going through the process again in 3-5 minutes. This does not happen all the time, but when it does I usually end up switching to a music streaming service.
Get the bugs fixed, and this baby gets a 5-star rating.
Edited - downgraded to two stars....just too frustrating.
I love my public radio station. I enjoy the option of listening to it on my cell phone, via this app. However, the app has had continuous problems since day one. It "disconnects" every other time I use it. Also, it will NOT disconnect, when I'm trying to shut it down. I have had to Turn my phone OFF, to make it
Stop running. This app definitely needs some work, bug fixes and upgrades. Please!!
