the only reason i gave it two stars is because i got it to play once. every time since then it has not and when i go to click the green play button once ive cued my show up and everything looks like its ready to go, i give it a minute and wait for the rating and intro to start and it just gives me a totally black screen with the only thing there being cancel top left and the other options such as bookmark among other things. sometimes it does give me an error message but most times just black screen. i missed most of watchathon week when i wasnt able to be home even though i had wifi connection, it only worked on my television which is very limiting. not happy with the quality of this app at all. if i could claim this off of my bill i would because as im sure everyone else im paying for something i cannot use. shocker
I give this app low marks because of how it handles the commercials. It often stalls out at :29 minutes just before the last ad in a :90 second sequence and then never comes back even after closing and restarting the app. Also xfinity seems to find it necessary to run the same ads over and over and over. I get it--advertising pays for programming but must it be the same three commercials ad nauseum? Eventually playing as this way has the reverse effect and I now have negative associations with the advertisers. Then there's the fact that they also find it necessary to also repeat their show promos just as frequently. I realize much of this goes beyond this app to how xfinity/comcast handles their content but get it together, guys. The cable playback works well enough. Why is this app experience so bad?
NETFLIX APP IS WAY BETTER
The Xfinity app stalled and skipped so many times that I never even made it to the first commercial. I couldn't stand it any longer! There was no option to enlarge the view to fit the screen either, so that made it harder to see. Altogether irritating.
Comcast is sneaky about their pricing. They offer discounts through other websites but on their own sites refuse to let IP addresses they recognize as customers see any comparative pricing. Meanwhile they jack up your bill as soon as your intro is over. It might be possible to negotiate a new deal with them, but first I'll be calling their competitor in my neighborhood (Thames Valley Communications) because they publish consistent pricing on their own website and their regular pricing is similar to Comcast's intro pricing.
