So first and foremost this app actually does what is says it will do which unfortunately is not true of many apps it seems. Essentially this is a simple app that alerts you to where there is xfinity wifi available. I would think this could be accomplished just using your browser, but I will grant an app makes it easier. I do wish they had gone a step further and integrated the app better with phone because the app tells you where wifi is available but to connect to that wifi you have to leave the app and go to settings. You should be able to just click the wifi you want in the app and have it connect you, but hey this is Comcast so my expectations are very very low. Overall, it is a useful app but nothing you can not live without.
Huge privacy invasion and abuse
So now comcast is using my electricity, residential real estate, and device I am paying to lease from comcast, and may publish my home address as a public hotspot in the app. Puff email rollout says click for info to disable "feature" but nothing there. I sent back the proprietary comcast wifi router and bought and installed my own secure router to hopefully avoid this massive abuse. My sucker residential neighbor is broadcasting a public comcast wifi signal so now I am using that from time to time if need be and he can have vehicles park in front of his house to access. If comcast wants to use my property as a public wifi broadcast site they better pay me for the privilege.
I've been using these hotspots in the Napa Valley for the passed 1 1/2 years daily. Ive gotten consistent speeds up to 25 Mbps and 5-10 upload. I'm an outside sales rep so it's great having the speed I need in many locations. The outdoor hotspots are great for my kids when there out and about to save on data with our iphones. I've also used them in the East bay
(SF,Walnut Creek). Overall great experience with Comcast and the hotspots are great. CJ
