What's New in Version 3.6.0
JUMPING TO CHANNELS IN THE TV LISTINGS GRID IS BACK! (We missed it, too.) You can find this functionality in the new Channel Finder at the top of the TV Listings grid. Search by channel number, call sign, or network name -- even enter a number that doesn't exist in your lineup, and we'll tell you which two channels are closest. Thank you for all the feedback about how you use the app, and keep it coming!
Can't navigate on TV like old app
This app is nothing like the old one.
What is missing? You can't use it to navigate the menu options on the TV like the old one did. You can use it to begin playing a recording on you TV, but unlike the old app, you can't fast forward, rewind, restart, or even exit using the app. There is no Xfinity button to bring up any menus on your TV or even search on your TV to get help like you could with the actual remote control. The OLD xfinity remote app had all the buttons the remote had so if we lost it we could still use the app to do everything. I completely understand what Xfinity was trying to do by implementing this app, but to call it a remote when it does not function like a remote is misleading and disappointing. I hope they add back these features to this new app. With having kids in the house our remote is always going missing so we used to use the old app a lot. If you need to get to the "help" screen in the menu you can't because you can't even get the menu to pop up with this app! We were on a service all and the xfinity tech and a question popped up that required a yes or no answer and I with this app (and no remote) i had no way of selecting yes or no. Hope this gets updated.
Good but needs so much more!
This app has the potential for being a real value added perk for Xfinity and my main wish is that Comcast invest the money in this app to bring it to full functionality. It needs to have all the functionality of the X1 Remote with a full set of tools to manage program guides and schedules. The app is about half way there and is screaming for greater investment. I would rather use something like this than any of the on-screen guides.
One feature I would really like to have is the ability to construct my own channel lineup. Right now I have more than 300 channels but my actual viewing is typically a list of about 50 channels. I would like to have the ability to put together my own list of channels that displays only the channels I typically watch and be able to group and order the channels the way I want them displayed in a guide. This feature would be more important to me than the ability to "jump" in the channel listings. Jump is important now because there are so many channels I don't watch cluttering up my display.
Good and here's WHY.....
Today is 3 May 17 - I had bad equipment....for a very long time, so for the last year I had intermittant reception and very poor streaming at times. But I had no idea that it was my own line coming into the house that was causing the problems...hence, I was blaming this App. My bad.
So....yesterday I got a new line installed outside and this App is all of a sudden working perfectly. So...I no longer believe the problems with this App are really "App" problems, but rather connection issues.
I'll come back if this changes but for now I'm very happy.
