What people are saying:

"It’s a million impressive little things. It’s the blurring of the background; its the subtle parallax scroll when flipping between cities; it’s the way the windmills spin faster or slower based on the actual current windspeed." - Greg Kumparak, TechCrunch

Wildly inaccurate predictions

I've used the app for years, and I really like the interface. However, the weather predictions are becoming more and more wildly inexplicable in recent months. For instance, the day-by-day overview (Wed, Thu, Fri) indicated a 65% chance of rain today. However, looking at the hour-by-hour screen, there was 55-65% chance of rain between 6:00am-8:00am and then no forecasted rain for the remainder of the day. To me, two hours of possible rain out of 18 hours does not mean 65% chance of rain for the entire day. Now, the app showed a sunny sky with lightning, indicating possible thunderstorms. Looking outside, I can assure you that isn't going to happen with mostly clear skies and a few high puffy clouds. It's frustrating to look at the forecast at bedtime and see: MON (clear), TUE (40% rain), WED (70% rain) ... and when you wake up in the morning, you see MON (60% rain), TUE (clear), WED (partly cloudy). To be fair, this isn't the only weather app I've used, most of them seem to suffer from this random Magic 8-Ball approach to forecasting).

The app is beautiful but an app should also be functional

The esthetics of this weather app are phenomenal. I don't like ads on my apps and would gladly pay development to be able to remove them but it's a minor gripe. The main concern is over the functionality, specifically in the maps. For one, it uses satellite maps which makes it look antiquated and hard to pinpoint where I am in relation to everything else. Second, the accuracy of the radar seems to be off at times and doesn't show rain when there clearly is. I like my apps to have options as to how I want to view the data but with yahoo the is none.

Sincerely hope that the devs read reviews and decide to add some better and more useful features than just a pretty app.

Works for Me

First of all it's a nice looking app with a large picture representing the current weather conditions. The overlay of the data is also visually appealing. I have also found that is very accurate for my location. I also like that I can specify a 5 day or 10 day forecast. All the important weather conditions such as temp, chances of precipitation, wind direction, humidity and even sunrise and sunset are there and placed pretty much in the order that I want them.
The thing I don't like are the ads, which are pretty much celeb gossip. Given that the app is free, I guess I have to put up with that. A weather app I paid for is less accurate and as well layed out as this one.
