YaoYao is an Apple Watch standalone app for Jump Rope.
Jump rope is a very simple and economical aerobic workout. You can excise anytime, anywhere.
Currently you can choose to run or ride, swim or other types of workout on Apple Watch, but not Jump rope.
The most important thing of Jump rope is about counting. There is no Jump application available on Apple Watch, only some apps which you must hold while Jump.
It utilizes the Apple Watch motion sensor to calculate your Jump. YaoYao costs you no more than an ordinary Jump rope.
- Repetition Record
Every 100 times, App will voice broadcast the current count, so you do not need glance at the watch to check your Jump.
- Live Count
Jumps number will also be displayed/voice broadcast on the iPhone
- Exercise time record
- Jump speed (BPM) record
- Record the number of consecutive jumps
App not only calculates your Jump speed, but also records the max Jump count by once.
- Heart rate record
- Calorie calculation
- HIIT mode
- Sync with iOS Health Data
YaoYao data stores in the Health Data, so in addition to managing records within the App, you can also manage iOS workout .
YaoYao integrates with the Apple Health app to sync your workouts and record heart-rate data.

Inaccurate heart rate & calorie tracking
It’s handy to record and keep track of number of jumps, but I find it very hard to believe the heart rate tracker is at all accurate. It quickly and sporadically jumps from very high to very low to high again. It is also often quite low right after a long, hard sprint that should be in the 170 range based on where Apple’s HIIT tracker would have me. So because of that, the final calorie count comes out lower than it should be. I have also tried increasing and decreasing the HR sensitivity without any luck.
As someone who likes to keep track of calories per workout to see my progress, this is disappointing. If you’re simply curious to see your jump total, then this app is perfect. Although, it would also be nice to be able to set a custom auto-pause time as that seems to trigger a little too quickly for my liking.

Thanks for response. The heart rate data is get from WatchOS, app cannot control it. if it not accurate it means watchOS problem
Cool in concept
Cool concept, but having issues with the app recording data. In short, it doesn’t. Ha. It will record and display results during a workout, but the data does not get saved for future reference, as per the screen shots above. Jump count, calories, workouts, etc. Nothing is saving in the app. It does, however, sync generic Yao Yao “workout” instances and times with the iOS Activity app. So I’ve just been using it for that purpose to be able to identify separate jump rope workouts and times in the Activity app. Unfortunately, I’m not able to enjoy the native tracking, medals, gamification, etc. within the native app. Oh well. On an iPhone X, Apple Watch Series 1, iOS 11.2.2, and app version 1.5.6. I’ve enabled all data sharing permissions within the Health app. I’ve deleted and reinstalled the app. No luck.

If you love to jump ❤️ look no more
Recently downloaded this app and used it for the first time, I synced it with my series 3 Cellular Apple Watch... No disappointments at all, totally worth the money!!! It really keeps track of the work out this is the first time I can actually track my jump rope routine. If you’re in doubt, download this you won’t be disappointed. Lastly they list the numbers you really want to see like longest streak, heart rate, total jumps and how long you jumped for 😍😍 I love this app!
