Download the app on Wi-Fi from your network at home or use any free Wi-Fi network. Because the app is filled with audio commentary and maps, its larger than "normal" apps. Many phone/data networks may block the download because of size - so its important to download over a Wi-Fi network.

++ Continued use of GPS running in the background increases battery usage - we strongly recommend taking a cigarette style (DC outlet) car charger. This is much better than simply plugging into the USB port in a vehicle.

** iPad users - please note that WiFi-only iPads will not activate the commentary automatically. Any iPhone or network-capable iPad (WiFi + Cellular - whether you have a network connection or not) will work just fine.

Don't go without it!

Matt the M.

We planned a week-long family vacation to Yellowstone and Grand Teton, my first time visiting the parks. I did days of research on the web, bought a couple of guidebooks and studied them, made notes on what we should see. I came across this app and decided to buy it based on the reviews. Even though I had done a lot of my own research ahead of time, the app was really, really hepful. So nice to have it tell you what is coming up ahead so you can decide whether to stop to see different things. And the history of the parks, and information the geology and wildlife, were fascinating! No question in my mind it was worth the $10 and it made the trip more enjoyable and educational.

Small problems with glitches (app played narration for the wrong travel direction), and we heard the same stories several times while driving around the park over a few days. Also I wish you could set the map to travel-direction-up instead of North-up.

But, the app was so incredibly helpful that I'm giving it 5 stars despite those small problems.

Developer Response

Hi Matt Thanks for your review. Would you mind to send us an email if you remember the area or story where the point played in the wrong direction. Haven't received any other reports, but we might need to tweak the range of that point. Many thanks. GG

Learned lots in the parks!

by SCB

We learned a lot in the parks and it was a great way to learn about the area while driving, especially since you are stuck in the car so much in these parks.
We did find a few mistakes in the Narration (the date Lewis and Clark did their expedition was wrong, when talking about the geysers, he said construction instead of constriction and once near canyon junction, the narrative for the opposite direction started playing). I am sure these are things that can be fixed quickly and should not be an issue much longer.
Would have been nice to have the option To have some local music or something play between stops as well, so not just silent.
Overall such a great way to have a guide without paying for an expensive trip.

Must have app

THE windohgirl

We absolutely loved this app. There is a lot of history given along with the information about each area of the park. The guide (named Jeffrey by one of our girls) has a great voice and gives you plenty of time to know what is coming up head of you so you don’t miss anything during your drive. Even without any cell service you are able to use the app and get all of the information. We would definitely recommend spending the money for this purchase. We had no glitches and loved that you could close out the audio if you were retracing your path through the park. We miss “Jeffrey” now that we have finished our trip.
