For Documents. Tag, organize, see, find.

Photos have iPhoto. Music has iTunes. But when it comes to PDFs and other office documents, you're on your own. That is, until now. Now there is Yep and there's no looking back.

Start Yep for the first time and it automatically shows you all your PDFs, iWork and Office documents. The strength in Yep is being able to see your documents and search through them with out needing to worry where exactly you saved it to. Add your own tags to documents - which is like storing them in two places at once. Yep also has the ability to automatically file documents into a simple date based folder system located in your Documents folder. The result is that its easy to keep a running track record of receipts, invoices, research papers - without having to think about where to store it.

Has a built in scanning interface optimized for documents.

Yep runs your life for you! Fantastic app

Update: I’ve used YEP for years. It is the best - Hands down. Current tracking over 40,000 files - with no end in site on how much YEP can handle. Very simple to use (I use Fujitsu ScanSnap - Works great). Took the plunge with both my business and personal life to eliminate paper. I went slow at first not sure of how well "going paperless" was going to be. After a few weeks I never looked back. I even went into my old boxes of files - took a weekend and scanned my brains out. With the "tags" burned into the metadata you are guaranteed not to lose your valuable tax documents. I now have scanned my entire life. Recipes from my Mom's 50 years of notes, mortage papers, all my mail everyday!, my kids award certificates, school docs, business cards, all of my household manuals (appliances, tools, lawn mower, furnace, etc.).

Now what? - You "tag" them - with categories to find ANYTHING FAST. STOP—— Think hard on the tag names that you will use. These are key words that mean something to you. You will use these names to label everything in your life. Imagine putting stickers on everything around you home / business. It isn’t practical to reorganize everything in your house and put them on shelves by similar labels. You have to remember where something is, and then go find it - "when you need it” - which is NOW, not hours later because you can’t remember where you left it. YEP works like your real world brain. You put “labeled stickers” (meta data) on your files. When you need to retreive a file you think of ways to find a particular file. Just like life - If you want to cook an egg. You remember “Kitchen”, then “Cupboard”, then “Pan”, then Non-Stick Pan”. Before using YEP plan ahead, layout chunks of your life, how you want to find something. For example: Real life situation ---You need to change your lawn mower oil - One of your Tags is “manuals”, when you select manuals, 250 show up. You could get lucky and scroll down and recognize the cover of the manual click it to use it. OR refine your search further. You had also set up a tag named “garage items” You add the second tag in the search results and matching results decreses from 250 to 30 files. Now you scroll and recognize the cover image almost instantly. Another example: When you buy your new lawn mower, you scan the sales receipt - TAG it as “sales receipt” AND “warranty items” AND “Visa card” AND "Garage items” You next scan the whole operating manual (sometimes you can google product manuals to get a digital copy - handy if it is +100 pages) and then TAG it “maintenance item” AND “manuals” AND "warranty item” AND “garage item”. NOW it is 2 years later, you find a puddle of oil under your mower, you go to your computer and add a search TAG “warranty items” + "Garage items” + “manuals” + “sales receipt” ——The search results pop up…... You paid for this lemon on x date, with your Visa, and the warranty is only 1-1/2 years. Too bad - wait!! - your Visa will cover it because SURPRISE another file poped up - your Visa has an extended warrenty plan that you forgot about. You had dutifally tagged your Visa service plan as “Visa card” AND "warranty item” --- you’re covered! -- Free replacement of a lawn mower!

The best is you have no boxes, you don't have to spend hours with an OCR software /data program, No complex file in your harddrive. Worth 10X the price.
Backup your main file where YEP stores them - on another hard drive (Maybe two) - Remember you will shread your old files. The ONLY paper I own is in my wallet!!!!
