Yoink - Simplify and Improve Drag and Drop on your Mac
By Matthias Gansrigler
Open the Mac App Store to buy and download apps.
Yoink simplifies and improves drag and drop between windows, apps, spaces and fullscreen apps.
Featured on the Mac App Store in the categories 'Invaluable Utilities', 'Get Stuff Done', 'Staff Favorites', 'New and Noteworthy' and 'New Year, New You'
When you start dragging files in Finder or content from an application, Yoink fades in a tiny window at the edge of your screen so you can drag to it.
This frees up your mouse so you can comfortably navigate to the destination of the files and resume the drag from Yoink's window more comfortably.

This is SO helpful to my “just need somewhere to put this for a minute” style of working
I’ve been using Yoink for a while. At first I didn’t bother to read much about it, and it just stayed on the launchpad (Mac), unopened and unused. IT IS INDISPENSABLE now. I move files around all day. Yoink is brilliantly simple and works so well. I used to struggle with “holding” a file or folder until I set up a new one, or when I got interrupted, etc. I’d lost my train of thought, got interrupted, whatever. Yoink is great at just “holding that last thought” for me. That’s how I use it anyway. Big bunch of stuff and trouble hovering and waiting or just pure indecision on my part. This app is awesome. Thanks for your work and keeping it updated!
Very useful app - one of my must have utilities
Yoink is one of those utilities that makes you wonder “Why didn’t Apple do this?” No more resizing open windows so the source and target are both on screen or copy and pasting; simply drag the item to Yoink’s landing pad and it’s stored until you are ready to drop it in a new location. I find it expecially useful for attaching files to email - find files, drag to landing, go into mail and drag to the message.
Great app! Can’t believe this isnt a built in function...
This is a great app from a good developer who consistently provides (free) updates. When I first transitioned to Macs about 6 years ago, the click and drag functions bewildered me compared to Windows, one of the few things I had trouble with. This app helped ease the transition, and has become an indispensible part of the OSX experience for me, used every single day. Keep up the good work!
