The classic simulation game(released worldwide by Maxis in 1995 under the name "SimTower") is back on iPad!
"Yoot Tower" is based on the PC game "Yoot Tower",
which has sold over a million copies worldwide, and has been redesigned for the iPad's touch-based interface.
Assuming the role of a building manager, the player edits the building, designating areas for offices, retail shops, and transportation.
The key to gameplay is managing the stress levels of people waiting for elevators.
If residents have difficulty moving around the building, they will leave, lowering the amount of rent income the player can work with.
You must manage the accessibility, security, and amenities of your building as you try to expand it.
If you can create a pleasant atmosphere, the population of your skyscraper will continue to rise, and once the population reaches 15,000, you may well witness a miracle in the cathedral that sits on the top floor of your great tower.
Changes for the iPad version include the limiting of city settings like the Security Room, Recycling Facility, and Parking Space to one per building.
Tapping such items allows their size to be adjusted left and right, expanding the puzzle-like aspect of the game.
What's New in Version 1.1.1
- Item's "Information" and "Remove" can be selected by double tapping.
- Text insert in iOS 5 has been alternated.
- Alternated th other major bugs.
Finally one of my favorite all-time games has been ported to the iPad. Yes this was in fact called SimTower at one point but shortly after its debut in the late 80s it was renamed to Yoot Tower. As an advocate of all simulator games I have to be honest with you; this is one of those games that I was absolutely addicted to. I could think of a few others as well such as SimFarm, A- Train and of course SimCity. I am very glad to see this game back on the marketplace. And yes it could use some new tweaks and some updates. I'm hoping that it still allows us to place subway stations underground and perhaps a new addition to the game could be to allow us to create monorails above ground
. Sure there's probably 10 or 20 or 30 other things that could be added to the game but more is not always better. Keep it simple but make it worthy of our time. So far, I have not been disappointed!
Great Game, but a couple of bugs...
I enjoyed playing this game for PC when it was originally released and the current gameplay is quite similar. Generally good and very playable!
There are a few bugs that really need to be addressed. The message system is not totally legible at the bottom of the screen and it's frustrating; The font and second line of text is not readable. Landscape mode does not work. Some message popups are not in English. I had an issue where I made a service elevator on the initial wrong floor and the game would not let me drag/extend the elevator down on floor with the housekeeping. I had some trouble deleting the service elevator. I restarted the app and then was able to delete the service elevator and then made a new one. I lost some money in the process and was a little frustrated, but not a total loss. Just a bug.
It would be nice if you could zoom out even more to make navigation of the tower easier. Otherwise everything seems to work ok.
Thank you and I hope you address the bugs and fix them.
Great app with several improvements over old Sim Tower for Mac. Main improvement is ability to horizontally relocate any item including elevators, escalators, condos, etc. Services, such as security, housekeeping, recycle bin, etc may also be horizontally expanded (you get only one of each) to meet increasing needs as Tower grows. Parking can be expanded both vertically and horizontally. Game requires thinking and planning if you expect to reach 100 floors. Managing the transportation systems to keep residents happy is biggest challenge. Try not to go broke in the process. Hint: have lots of hotel rooms and enough maids to keep them clean.
