Ratings and Reviews
Throw out all the other cooking apps
I have had this app for a number of years and decided to finally write a review. I was impressed with the layout and the pictures of the food that I might cook (I don't have ads popping up so I must of bought Yum with the ad free). After using the app a number of times I started learning all the features such as filtering and shopping lists. Recently, as a New Year's resolution, I decided to go on the Paleo diet. I had been searching for a number of days for apps, books. Being a New beginner to the Paleo diet it was frustrating trying to find a decent app. Most of the apps wanted money for a limited amount of recipes.
Finally I was looking at my apps on my iPad and got to looking at Yum. I rummaged through the filters and imagine to my surprise, there in preference, lo and behold was the Paleo diet, I click that and Unclicked everything else ( make sure you do that or you'll get a hodgepodge of recipes) You could type in search, breakfast, lunch, dinner, sauces and all your results would be in Paleo. The only problem I had in the search occasionally was I had to use their preference box that comes underneath your search. It's a bug and I hope Yum fixes that. But I got to tell you I absolutely no kidding love this app. And the data of recipes is massive. Five stars as far as I'm concerned.
I own over 200 cookbooks and I love to cook. However since a friend turned me onto Yummly I will probably not purchase a cookbook again in the near future. I like how Yummly caters to your dietary preferences. I am vegan and it is not always easy to find good recipes. Yummly will send you recipes based on your preferences. You can save them and categorize them. Most of the recipes have photos of the finished product and give detailed steps on making the dishes. I have enjoyed most of the recipes that I have saved and visit Yummly on a daily basis to give me inspiration for my cooking adventures
However, since I check this site each day, they do not provide enough new material for my taste. Additionally, I am not interested in videos. But I still like this site and recommend it to others.
I absolutely love this app. It has a large selection of recipes without overwhelming me as some sites and apps do. I can type anything in the search and find a variety of recipes with photos that come up. Many times I compare several and adjust to suit my taste. For example I made a strawberry spinach salad from one recipe and made the dressing from another. When I click on directions they are links to sites the individual sponsor has and I have learnt awesome tips from browsing some of this info. I also appreciate the emails that our sent. They give me fresh ideas and if there is something appealing I just open the app and my family has a new dish for dinner, something everyone has been appreciating.
We appreciate all the love! Thank you for the awesome review! It's great to hear that you and the family are enjoying some of the tasty recipes on Yummly and that by combining multiple recipes you've been able to make some awesome creations, smart thinking! Happy Cooking! :)
