Wrap your way to bliss in Zen Bound 2, the unique down-tempo indie game! This is a different gaming experience: an opportunity to slow down, zone out and focus on a task that’s challenging but not stressful, a set of gentle puzzles for the mind and fingers to solve.
The goal of the game is to paint wooden sculptures by wrapping them in rope - a task that may sound simple but has surprising complexity. Each of the levels presents a spatial puzzle that becomes obvious through inspection. Some levels feature paint bombs that are helpful in covering complex areas of the object.
Zen Bound 2 is a calm and meditative gameplay experience, with tactile, dusty visuals and a sublime, enveloping soundtrack by the sensational electronic artist ‘Ghost Monkey’.
* Multi-touch controls
* Over 100 levels
* Multiple gameplay modes with paint bombs
* 45-minute soundtrack from ‘Ghost Monkey’
* Beautiful high definition visuals
What's New in Version 2.2.5
- Trackpad multi-touch controls now consistent in Snow Leopard and Lion.
Beautiful and relaxing and totally habit-forming...
Since purchasing this app day before yesterday, I've been enjoying it immensely. About half an hour before I go to bed, I set aside some time for the soothing of my mind and this is perfect for that. There is a cool way in which the interface, which is lovely by the way, provides stimulation but without pumping adrenaline through one's veins. On the contrary, it seems to release seratonin instead. When binding the anthropomorphic shapes, there is an added sense of being bound oneself, which is very comforting for many people (sort of like how babies are comforted by swaddling). The use of color and the soundtrack are equally wonderful and the visuals overall are just brilliant. Very cool app! I will recommend it to everyone I know.
Polished and excellent
I often find the price of desktop apps to be inflated, especially given the strength of their iOS cousins. This developer has done a great job of selling a desktop app to this iOS user. Both the polish they put into it as well as the large selection of levels make it every bit a great value. While $5 would be a super-premium iOS game, this OSX version satisfied me very quickly that it was worth its price.
I find this game to be very helpful for me at work. As a top level manager I have to deal with some frustrating situations and a lot of stress. Simulataneously, I need to maintain my patience and kindness when communicating with others. This game - from the smooth trackpad integration, to the well tuned sound of the rope as it wraps the figures - all relax that tight spot in the chest and calm my mind. Such a simple puzzle game does some much to help me reset that I'm going to gift it as soon as possible to all my friends.
Price/value : 5 stars
Accomplishing its design purpose : 5 stars
Beauty/Polish : 4.5 stars (the main menu scrolls in reverse of the rest of the interface?)
I bought this game because of the cool screenshots, hoping it would be a fun game to last me a few days. After the first level I was hooked. It is amazingly simple, with no time limits (the best part). On my new MacBook Pro it looks just amazing. After every sculpture I position it in a cool position, take a screenshot (Command, Shift, 3), and add it to my own gallery, for those of you who said you wanted a gallery in the game. I add them to iPhoto and they're incredible. The game is so much easier on the computer when you use the two fingers on the trackpad to move the sculpture instead of clicking and holding. DEFINITELY worth two bucks!
