Customer Reviews

Good app, poor support

I like the app but not the company. They recently sent me 2 expiration notices for a magazine subscription that I discovered had not expired and was set to auto-renew in any case. Not wanting to have my subscription lapse, I checked my account and discovered that I had been charged two full subscription payments for the same magazine within a few months of each other (prior to getting the expiration notice), probably as a result of earlier false expiration email notices. I went to their website and discovered they could only be contacted via chat or email. I chatted with a rep who acknowledged the error. After a spending quite a few minutes trying resolve the problem, I was offered 2 and then 3 free issues (worth about $3) as a token of their regret that I had been inconvenienced (to the tune of 30+ minutes of my time trying to figure out what was going on). Not happy! So, if you keep your eye on your account with them, and don't get fooled by incorrect expiration notices, the app itself is quite good. So my rating is 5 stars for the app and 1 star for the company. I don't think the overcharging was intentional, and they did credit my payments for additional issues, but they need to get their act together and eliminate bogus expiration notifications.

Zinio, the first and still the best!

Zinio continues to keep up and excel in the digital magazine field. I have tried a few other magazines through their own apps, and actually I just wish they were on Zinio! It would be so much easier to access and read their content just like all the magazines I subscribe to, and several of those individual magazine apps have been dropped when the magazine becomes available through Zinio.
As I said, the first magazine app on my original iPad and still the best magazine app on my iPad 3 and Mini iPad!
I was going write a new review, but in reading my old one, for me, it hasn't changed. I guess I'm lucky to not be having the problems several other people are, but (fingers crossed) it is working fine for me. Yes the subscriptions are going up on some magazines but there's also very good sales to be had if you watch, like 2 years for the price of one. And the subs are going up on regular subscriptions anyway! Still the number 1 magazine app for me!

What a colossal waste of time!!

This could be a great app. It was when I first started with it back in 2010. I use it for the digital issues of Aviation Week and Space Technology. For the last year, year-and-a-half it keeps losing all my magazines. This is an expensive magazine that becomes rather bulky after awhile if I keep all the hard copies. I decided a few years ago to just keep the magazine digital editions (they have expanded coverage over the print editions). However anytime there is an update to the app I lose ALL of my issues and must download them again...this takes me many hours over many days or weeks.

I can't begin to express my frustration over this. If there were an alternative I would gladly take it as this app has become crap!
