Good but could be great
I used this for the first time today. It was easy to navigate and totally served its purpose. One of my biggest deterrents of trying new recipes I find online is the printing or writing down the ingredients for shopping. I just find it tedious so this is a perfect solution.
Yes, it can be goofy with the categories (baby mushrooms in the Baby section...lol). My biggest wish is that you could somehow search by blog or that it synced with Pinterest. My favorite blog (Skinny Taste) already has a shortcut to Ziplist, which is how I discovered it. I think I saw an add on to add a Ziplist tool in my browser but I closed it thinking it was a pop up. This would fix my suggestion. Anyway, if I'm searching from my app in my phone, I would love to be able specify which blog or web site I wanted to search...not all blogs are created equal...there are many amateurs out there that I'd rather not try.
I havent had any issues with crashes. I have an older OS so I wonder if that could be related. This has been one of the most useful apps I've used in a long time.
Like that it can be synched with Martha Stewart Everyday food App
Pros: If you use Martha Stewart's Everyday food App, then Ziplist is a must due to ability to sync shopping list (not favorite receipes though). Also, Ziplist is a very easy place to organize your favorite recipes online and have them all in one place by using the "Ziplist recipe clipper."
Cons: First, I would like more detail when updates are implemented as to what is included with the update. "+updates " is a lame description! Also, why is there no iPad version?Although, I don't take my iPad to the grocery store...I prefer to make my list either on PC or iPad. I also follow recipes while cooking on my iPad. Lastly, When searching "my recipes," exact title must be searched. Very frustrating if you forget braised or seared in your search terms.
Exactly what I need
I have used ZipList for about a year, and only recently added it to my husband's phone - wow! Now we each can update the list AND shop, and there's no more frustration for him trying to figure out where to find things - all he has to do is select the store he's shopping at, and the list is automatically presented in order for him.
My only quibble with the app is that it's very easy to unintentionally check an item off the list when I'm holding my phone. Sometimes I don't notice, then I miss a few items at the checkout. Not sure how this could be improved - maybe an audible beep when items are checked off? That would make it easy to correct my error on the spot.
Love this app, and use it daily.
