What's New in Version 2.6
I live here: Don't kill Zite
Seriously. This is the only app I rely on every day for all my fun reading. I am writ g this review as have others solely to slap some sense into anyone who thinks Zite can be replaced by corporate merger or whatever. Don't kill zite. You will lose your loyal base and utterly destroy this amazing ecosystem you've invented. My only feature request is that feed doesn't autorefresh anytime you leave/return to app. Sometimes I open an article in safari for easier access to App Store or other links or to interact more with an interesting site you've curated and upon returning back to app it refreshes before I've had a chance to cycle through the current batch so then articles get pushed off the end for new ones to slide in. Another suggestion would be to be able to add a note when sending to Evernote as can be done with emailing articles. I've also noticed if I email articles to zite the links don't work in Evernote so I have to send via the much preferred Evernote link. Also would love if could send the whole article a la safari reader instead of just the link summary, and forgo all the zite footer signature stuff and let us make our own format for sending. Also a DESKTOP version of app would be tremendous. So tell the corporate suits they have no idea what they are doing. Kill flipboard. Long live Zite!
Great way to get my news...
I opted to use Zite a long time ago when it was very new and fell instantly in love with it. I like the way it asks what I like and don't like and gives me the news I am looking for. I pick my subjects and it learns as well as giving me articles that may relate or fall into the same categories that I like but didn't expect.
What I don't like is.....
That I can not say what exactly I didn't like about an article. For example, if I have a category about Star Wars and it pulls in articles about and related to Star Wars, great! When a negative article bashing Star Wars or misleading you by using the title Star Wars shows up only to get you to open the article up and see it's an ad or about something totally different, that's when I dislike it. I should be able to say that in my dislike of the article.
Fine tune the likes and dislikes more. Too many great apps don't let you choose to dislike or say why you dislike something. Learning what your taste in articles is and weeding out the crap articles is tough but doable just the same and can give users a much better experience.
Please Keep Updating
Zite is by far the best newsreader app for iOS. Hands down, it is incomparable to Flipboard. While Flipboard is designed to allow customization, it still feels like I'm just picking up my favorite "Gadget" or "Gaming" magazine every time I use the app. THIS IS NOT A GOOD THING. It feels like a stranger could pick up my Flipboard and get the same out of it that I do. Ads, articles I don't care for, and a ton of flipping just to find something worth reading.
Zite, on the other hand, feels like it was built just for me. Every time I tap the icon (a few times a day), I can count on being met with articles and sources that I want to experience. Zite lets me customize the app down to my taste in specific words, let alone a wide breadth of topics and sources. It is 100% MY app. Please don't take that away. I hope the two can live in tandem, so that I can continue using Zite all the time and Flipboard occasionally. An update for iOS 8 would be wildly appreciated.
