Formed in 2007, New Zealand’s The Naked and Famous have crafted a sound that fuses indie rock with synth-pop. ∙ The band took their name from a line in Tricky’s 1996 single “Tricky Kid,” which in turn quotes the song “Naked and Famous,” by The Presidents of the United States of America. ∙ Their 2010 chart-topping hit, “Young Blood,” not only went Platinum in the US, but it was also named Single of the Week in the Australia and New Zealand iTunes Stores. ∙ Passive Me, Aggressive You, their 2010 debut album, hit No. 1 and was certified Gold in New Zealand. ∙ The Naked and Famous won eight New Zealand Music Awards in a three-year span, including Best Group honors in 2011 and 2014. ∙ In Rolling Waves, their 2013 sophomore album, reached No. 48 on the Billboard 200.
