About Seth MacFarlane

Best known as an actor, writer, and producer, Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane has forged a parallel career as a pop and jazz singer inspired by the Great American Songbook. ∙ Fueled by the success of the Family Guy TV show, he cocreated 2005’s Family Guy: Live In Vegas, a Broadway-inspired album featuring characters from the series. ∙ MacFarlane’s first solo LP, Music Is Better Than Words, arrived in 2011 and earned him the first of his three Grammy nominations for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album. ∙ He hosted the 2013 Academy Awards, at which “Everybody Needs a Best Friend”—a track he’d cowritten for the movie Ted—had been nominated for Best Original Song. ∙ The 2014 Holiday for Swing! LP, which featured one of his many collaborations with singer Norah Jones, landed at No. 2 on the Billboard Jazz Albums chart. ∙ No One Ever Tells You—recorded in 2015 at the famed Abbey Road Studios, where most of his LPs have been made—earned him his first No. 1 on Billboard’s Jazz Albums chart. ∙ He’s released duets with Barbra Streisand and Meghan Trainor— the former for 2016’s Encore: Movie Partners Sing Broadway and the latter on 2020’s A Very Trainor Christmas.
