About Nicole Dollanganger

Canadian singer/songwriter Nicole Bell, who operates under the V.C. Andrews-inspired nom de plume Nicole Dollanganger, first began posting her evocative and provocative gothic dream pop songs on her blog and MySpace page in 2011. With her breathy, childlike voice and dark, alluring lyrics (which often dealt with horror, depression, sex, gore, and BDSM), Dollanganger soon developed a devoted fan base, self-releasing a string of limited-run cassettes and CD-Rs, including the full-length efforts Flowers of Flesh and Blood (2012), Ode to Dawn Wiener: Embarrassing Love Songs (2013), and Observatory Mansions (2014). In 2015 she opened for Grimes and Lana Del Ray in Toronto, and shortly thereafter became the first artist to release an album via Grimes' artist cooperative Eerie Organization -- Grimes has stated that releasing Natural Born Losers was her sole purpose for creating the collective. The following year saw Dollanganger have the song "Chapel" featured in episode 16 of The Walking Dead. It also saw her ink a deal with Run for Cover Records, which reissued 2013's Ode to Dawn Wiener: Embarrassing Love Songs and 2014’s Observatory Mansions. Dollanganger's next full-length outing, Hillbilly Noir, was slated for release in 2017. ~ James Christopher Monger
