Andre Ethier

About Andre Ethier

Canadian singer and songwriter Andre Ethier writes and plays music that's rooted in contemporary folk while also showing blues influences in his emotionally forthright tunes and quietly passionate vocals. Formerly with the garage rock band the Deadly Snakes, Ethier moved away from the speed and volume of rock & roll as a solo artist while maintaining his love for vintage R&B, and his intimate performances reveal a slow-burning intensity that's present whether he's singing about relationships, his observations about the world, or political and social issues. Ethier was still tempering his rock & roll influences on his solo debut, 2004's Andre Ethier with Christopher Sandes Featuring Pickles and Price, a rambunctious acoustic blues session, while on 2008's Born of Blue Fog he was fully committed to his new approach, and 2021's Further Up Island was part of a trilogy that found him experimenting with vintage drum machines.
