Not to be confused with the Andrew Morgan who is a part of New Orleans jazz history, this vocalist and songwriter seems to deserve his own historic landmark on the funk highway. Tantalizing subgenre labels such as dusty grooves and funkedermia have been coined in relation to Morgan's band from the early '80s, the Chicago-based ensemble Starvue. Morgan is part of a songwriting team responsible for the title track of the group's 1980 Upward Bound album as well as the seriously crushy "Love Struck." Extremely early disco mixing techniques, hence the dusty connotation, include scintillating handclaps to pump up the excitement on tracks such as these and the party favorite "Body Fusion." ~ Eugene Chadbourne
